I had no idea where this was going until that second sentence. Thought we were about to get an OnlyFans link
It would be awesome if someone would sell me some change plates. Im also slightly ocd and would really like a set vs a mismatch set from 4 different places.
They have a bunch of 1.25, which I do need. I do want rubber ones, tho I balked on some elieko plates bc they were just expensive as fuck.
Brother got his 500 today. My first time over 500 for 2020 too, stronger than I was last year but a bit of a shock to the body as I haven’t gone over 90%
Major. My squat is down ~25lbs, Bench is down ~20lbs, deadlift is down 10-15lbs. It’s coming back quickly
Been insanely busy growing my business. My workouts are Bench whenever I find time. Bench whenever free again Bench in the am before work Curls sometime.
I’m still in a gym. Rock a mask and it’s not bad. Perfect world I’d have a home gym with 2-5 dedicated training partners
I canceled my membership today. Feel really bad b/c they are a great gym & I don't want to act like I'm bailing on them during Covid. I don't have time going to the gym right now, so my best best it a quick 20 minute barbell complex in the garage and then jump some rope. Hopefully the rest of my bumpers ship soon and I can do real workouts ...and off more than 5 hours of sleep b/c that's killing me
Gyms here require masks and gloves and you have to reserve a 90 min time block. I’ve been watching it and it looks like there’s never more than 30 people making reservations for a time period and this is a huge gym so it’d be basically empty. I may take a run and just go scope it out and see what it’s like. I’m dying doing body weight shit and have no motivation any longer. I’m just bored and haven’t touched any actual weights since Feb. So they give you 90 mins then they close and clean everything for 30 mins. Looks like 128 is the max they’re allowing and they don’t get anywhere close to that
I really appreciate gyms that are taking every precaution they can. Luckily mine is small and the most we’ve had in here are 12 people.
Yeah this is a giant 2 story mega 24 hour fitness center. 30 people on the weight and cardio floor would be the same as almost no one being there
Really can't believe I could lift with some silly ass gloves but it'll likely be the norm for a while.
I’m home gym for life I think, there are a few things I miss but not enough to warrant going back. On that front, hensleya any recs on a multi-grip bar
The biggest problem with gloves is they tend to give people a false sense of confidence. Your skin on your hand works just as well as a glove. People wear gloves and touch freaking everything with them. It’s a pet peeve of mine because the gloves haven’t been washed as often as you would wash your hands so it’s actually worse than no gloves. Don’t wanna ruin this thread so I’ll get off my soapbox now and leave it alone.
What are the thoughts on doing squats and deadlifts barefoot? Now that I’m working out at home and not at a gym, it’s a viable option for me.
I only deadlift barefoot. Can squat barefoot but in love with the new Romaleos, like them way better than Adipowers for squats.
Bought, like the Kaz grips we were talking about. Feels like my grip strength is as good as it's ever been.
Deadlifting is whatever. I chose not to ever lift barefoot, but I don’t see a huge difference between pulling in my lifters versus Metcons.
No real reason you couldn’t squat barefoot then. I just don’t much care to and lifting in a 1/2” lifter feels awesome.
I've gone to barefoot for squat and DL. I feel like I have a better feel for and connection with the ground which gives me greater control. Could be 100% mental and provide no advantage, I don't honestly know the science behind it one way or the other
Think of it like this: it’s all about force transfer. A squishy sole dissipates the force you’re transferring from your legs, back, etc. when there’s nothing between your foot and the ground you’re able to transfer maximum force. One less place to leak power.
Gloves and masks are required in gyms in Texas. I’d spray my gloves down with the same stuff to clean off equipment throughout my workout. I’ve gotten so used to wearing a mask I don’t ever mess with it but I’d just throw the gloves in a plastic bag in my trunk when I leave, sanitize the fuck outta my hands and then wash the gloves when I got home. We live in a 2 bedroom apartment in the middle of Houston with a newborn so any type of home gym with a rack or bench is completely out of the question as there simply is no where to put it
