If anyone wants to tag me and wins the thing, I’ll give you my address to ship the bench to and I’ll tag you in all my bench videos for clout.
I have a bit of fabric on sides of rep bench falling apart, it’s not bad but it really annoys me. Suggestions into fixing, glue/staples/ I’ll post a pic tomorrow if I’m not making sense
290x5 on bench tonight which is a PR, but it was on the Fat Pad so I’m not counting it. Still nice to see some Bench progress.
I also had: 2 cups of rice A big ass Gatorade A bagel with grape jelly And 8!!!!! Packets of oatmeal Still 50g short on carbs for the day.
Didn’t you do 225x20, bit surprised that’s all you can do at 290 not trying to bust balls, just interesting
Nah that’s fair. The 225 was very touch and go, these were with a competition pause. I’m also really bad at high % bench so I think I can rep higher intensities than most people
My 36 degree incline sets are almost identical to flat bench when max was 275. Would like to think I can get 300 but I haven’t flat benched all year. Cardio day today but did pull-ups, light years from my best but getting a lot better.
My neighbor threw out a Tuff Stuff adjustable Bench. At first I thought it was some junky brand or there was something broke on it. But then I saw the Gym Source stamp and tuff stuff logo and realized the guy is a fucking idiot. So I put it to the side and then when I had time put it inside. Apparently it had the leg attachment I guess so you can do decline and not lose your footing? I don't give a rats shit. The bench alone is worth over $500
I have a newer adjustable Rep bench (has the small gap but doesn't bother me) and it has held up really well through 10 months. I've been impressed with the quality so far
Just got an email for the bowflex adjustable dumbbells and ordered them. If you're looking for them now is your chance. Absurd that I will receive them "some time in the next 3 months" but I'll take it
Could’ve used a warning you were dropping such heat. I had 0 fire protection on when I clicked play. Well done, man
I was going to pull out of my meet today since my squat and bench had been going so poorly. Luckily my squat decided to show up at the 9th hour to give me a glimmer of hope. Took 515 for my top single and I absolutely could have doubled it
hensleya really enjoying the return to YouTube, trying to spread the channel to some folks at the gym via my wife's social media accounts. Congrats, the setup is beautiful. Best of luck with this venture.
So I'm fat again and people say I look smaller. Gonna have to risk covid and go back to lifetime for the gainz. Can't be out here looking small.
Finally hit 500 conventional after food poisoning(alcohol may have helped) on Saturday and barely eating Sunday. Gotta get nutrition back on track and hands are destroyed but solid month. Get a lazy deload week now. Thanks for reading my diary
Capstone 88 we just got a peloton. I know high intensity cardio isn’t ideal due to the fatigue, but any idea how I should reduce volume based on cycling sessions?
I think you can make it fit in well. You might have to reduce lower body volume for a bit until you adapt but I don’t think it has to be a permanent reduction. First thing I’d do, try to find a place where it can fit where it won’t interfere, or interfere as minimally as possible, with the next lower body session. Ex: I squat Tues and Deadlift Thurs so any high intensity cardio for me will be on Tuesday after I squat so I have 48 hours to recover instead of 24. Second consideration I’d make would be, what is most sore after a Peloton session? If it’s your quads then maybe do a quad focused lower day of biking then the next lower session could be a hamstring/glute focused day. Or vice versa. In general, I’d say lower volume by ~20%. That’s kind of a shot in the dark and not knowing your current aerobic capacity, recoverability, etc. but I think 20% is a good starting point to judge for a week or two then go from there. Once you establish your baseline I’d try to ramp volume up slowly over a month or two and see how you acclimate. Let me know how it goes. I’m interested to see how you can make it fit. Adding in conditioning work is something I’ve thought about a lot, and preached about a lot, so I’ll take any input I can get.
anybody done zombie squats? i am rotating a front squat into my next block and might try zombies after that. just for something different
yes, martins is doing them a lot and i like changing up my secondary squat. also saw gary piotrowski using lifting straps on the bar and holding those in a front squat position.
Gotcha that’s what I thought. Megan Bryanton is a PhD in biomechanics and LOVES these for quad development. I like the straps for front squats, but only thing I’d note is I’ve heard some people complain about their biceps cramping that way. I suspect that’s more from a lack of shoulder mobility and the biceps take over trying to hold the load up instead of their arms
Just really work on that lat/shoulder mobility best you can to improve that front rack. Try to do as many reps of the workout you can with your hands on the bar then switch
anyone here had success with pre-exhaustion techniques? I've been inadvertently doing with chest and kind of like it. Allows me to stress my chest more without hurting my shoulders considering trying it on a 2nd leg day
Feels weird getting excited about this, but I’m fucking excited about this. Heaviest I’ve gone in a long time. Feeling as strong as I ever have and pumped to keep climbing back to old me strength. 400 let’s gooooo.
Congrats. Same. After some injuries and then Covid finally back under squatting 315 5x5 this afternoon. Just focused on a long LP from 185...and eating a lot. Kinda chunky but it's winter
Joining a nice place today with actual squat racks and a lot of different equipment. Tried the Planet Fitness thing but found myself not wanting to go because I couldn’t do the things I want. Wife works a new schedule and now is home by 5 every night, which also helps. Let’s get it.
Now lifting in a parking lot outdoors because California has problems. Anyone ever lift in a squat rack with a subtle 5 degree right-to-left decline?
Two weeks ago I joined the home gym contingent and after all the stupid places I’ve had to work out I don’t know if I’ve ever been happier with any purchase I’ve ever made before this.
