https://fitforgolf.blog/2022/02/28/dr-keith-baar-golfers-and-tennis-elbow-rehab/ Here's a good podcast listen as well.
The rule is absolutely asinine, not well defined, and will lead to way worse performances. Not to mention the reasoning for the rule. If they wanted to change something just mandate the entire hand must be inside the ring.
Elbow below shoulder blade seems pretty straight forward similar to squat depth measurement. The way ppl benched is beyond stupid
They took advantage of their leverages. Should people with short arms and barrel chests have to do something to lengthen their bench ROM? Should long arm deadlifters have to pull from a deficit? Should short legged people have to squat to the floor?
Why aren't you making the same excuses for squating? Contorting your body so you can move the bar 3 inches is stupid. That's not lifting
And the ROM is the sticking point for me. This isn't a position to get stronger in a lift, it's effectively doing a quarter squat version of a bench press that everyone would shit all over someone squating that way.
Very short people don’t have to squat the bar as far. They can also move their stance out and cut that ROM even further. It’s the exact same thing. If your argument is “I just personally don’t like it” then say that, but don’t claim it’s good For anything other than your own opinion. This isn’t an aesthetic lifting contest it’s powerlifting. Move the most weight to the competition standard.
I just wanna see some examples of people’s dimensions screwing them. Every example I’ve seen affects the super flexible and I don’t feel for them.
Yes and contortions of your back to lift your sternum 4 inches off the bench to reduce ROM is deemed "not to standard"
There isn’t any language in the rule book about this. It’ll still be to standard. People will still have big arches they’ll just move their grips in to hit “depth”
Almost every elite bencher has a relatively shitty deadlift because of their super short arms. Joe Sullivan can’t hang on to a deadlift because he has the tiniest fattest hands in PL
Was only saying as far as this new rule is concerned and if there’s actually a physical deficiency to be able to get depth. Taking away the Sean Noriega bench pressers seems like a good thing.
Sean can’t even win a national title. Idk why people think this is some insane advantage. Outside of some very light women or men, who I admittedly don’t keep up with, no one with a huge arch is winning anything
i just saw online that Bill Pearl died this week. decades ago when i was getting my first gains i wore out the pages in Arnold’s encyclopedia of bodybuilding about the history of bodybuilding. Pearl stood out to me then and had a physique that was a much more realistic goal than the freak shows of the early 00’s. RIP
I wouldn’t get workout gloves. Better off with something like this if you’re just wanting to not get calluses. I have iron made straps, but I just use the Shiek ones with the Velcro wrist wrap now. I don’t deadlift anymore and the Shieks are just more comfortable. https://www.versagripps.com/product...Eb6x2XO2bp8tAzJBxnkF8pzkmmQXyFCBoCMGwQAvD_BwE
thanks guys. Yea, just for callouses and to help with grip for things like pull-ups since my bar is just a piece of steel.
Like Hoss said full on gloves might make your hands more comfortable but it might negatively impact your workout.
Yeah those versa grip ones are what you want. There’s all kinds of them out there but those are good. Gloves slip around when you’re lifting and you end up having to try and hang onto the glove especially when you get to sweating.
It’s not a sweat issue. The steel bar compresses my skin between my fingers and palm which is hindering my work out
You can use them either way on the pull-up bar. You can put the material on your palm and use it to grip it or wrap it around the backside of the bar and use them that way for a better grip and it works more like a strap. I’ve never owned any but I’ve worked out in them and they’re nice.
Death, taxes, and waking up yelling in the middle of the night with a hamstring cramp after a big deadlift session.
saw that, not convinced it’s a real beef but Jamal seemed on a mission and killed it Still get rid of kabuki bar
Holy shit. Jamal pulled 500kg in training https://www.instagram.com/reel/CjG3BuCJDt6/?igshid=NzNkNDdiOGI=
