Agree. Need to get those hamstrings to fire when you are pulling. Without knowing, I'd say you have significantly stronger quads than hammies (most people do) but that's also a good thing. Start strengthing those hammies and it will tremendously help your deadlift and the bounce getting out of the hole in your squats.
Those are pretty much my go to's. Can definitely see the hate for Maxx but I really enjoy his videos. Lost some respect for Campbell after his little spif with Maxx but still enjoy his videos. I follow a bunch but I also enjoy Brett Gibbs (incredibly strong), Nick Wright (kind of annoys me but still entertaining), and Blaha (a lot of people hate him but he puts out some good info). I eat lunch at my desk so I'll usually just throw on some videos and watch them every day. Youtube and here are probably were I get 95% of my lifting knowledge.
I eat at my desk a couple times a week also and typically this is how I spend it as well. Haven't heard of several of the guys' channels you two both mentioned (yes I've been under a rock) so my video library just grew like crazy
Bands/speed work (along with other shit, but I started to pull the bar more explosively off the floor and was able to get through any sticking points). And I know I'm gonna get shit for this, but try pulling sumo every once in a while
Something about Campbell talking shit about Maxx's Ever Forward shirts, wasn't anything crazy but Maxx I think took it really serious because those shirts symbolize his dad that passed. I missed most of it, and then stumbled on some video of some guys basically doing a recap of the whole thing. Pretty sure they don't talk or interact anymore. Edit: found the video
That's definitely weak shit. The whole Ever Forward thing is one of the reasons I like Maxx so much. ALS has to be one of the worst diseases out there. Plus I think the shirts look cool. Campbell has some cool shirts too and his "bar don't lie" is a great tag line.
I'm pretty sure my sore back has been due to super tight glutes and hamstrings. I've been giving extra attention to foam rolling those areas and have noticed an improvement. I've started to add face pulls and stiff leg DL's into the rotation of complementary exercises, what else can I do to target the back side of the body, other than what I already am? I'll hang up and listen thanks.
whatever the one is called where you lay down under a barbell and give it a good pelvic thrust and hold for each rep. that one is good
"Glute Bridge" Joshuam2107 that's what i was trying to describe. i've only been doing them for 3 weeks on leg day but I feel them afterwards
Didn't know it was called something different when you put your back on the bench and not the ground. Thought it was just one of those "to add range of motion or difficulty do this" Agree Hip Thrusts >>>
It ramps up weight in the 5x5 sets by 10% or so unripe you reach the final set. Also like the deads for 4 sets vs 1. Hope to run a good 12 weeks of it. Projections after 12 weeks look :D
Started Juggernaut after a hiatus Yesterday was fun and my delts are sore. Bench 155x5x10 DB Rows 105x2x10/85x3x8 DB Bench 55x5x10
last leg day of the 30daysout today thank christ. did all leg based things for the 4x8 tabata portion as well: jump rope, jump lunges, squat jumps, mountain climbers cheeks are in constant pain and i wish there was a way to take a shit laying down. been delaying the morning dump as long as i can. cramps
Gonna do the Arnold Blueprint to Cut for the next 3 weeks. I like his caveman approach to cardio "just run 1-2 miles as fast as you can" would love to hear him say it in that glorious voice
Happy friday, dudes. Inzer felt very comfortable and natural this morning. I had no issues with the break-in. I played around with it some last night like bigjrock suggested. Volume PR on squats this morning @ 230 5x8 Also did 2" deficit deads with 255 2x8. I used a double overhand hook grip for the first time and it surprisingly went well. My thumbs definitely felt it, but my grip held strong.
I wanted to do deficit deads the other day but the box we had there was like 5.5-6 inches..felt like that was way too drastic for the first time doing them..
Yep, I stand on a 45lb plate. Thankfully the gym has legit, flat weighlifting plates without any grip holds or elevation changes.
my wife decided to start "working out". Which is great, but she's doing some video by Tracy Anderson. So last night I asked how it went, and she said good, this chick really kicked my ass. You know, she said women should never work out with weights more than like 3 pounds, because women don't want to build mass. oh yea? yea, what you really want is to tone, to build long, lean muscle, like a swimmer, not the big body builder muscle. ah, I see.... The goal is to train and strengthen the smaller, accessory muscle groups, so that they pull the larger muscle groups, but not work the larger muscles directly that sounds really.....smart. whatever, she trained Madonna, have you seen Madonna???
You did much better than me. I would have for sure gone on a rant on how stupid that shit is which would have inevitably ended in me being an asshole.
that was this morning, when she said her arms were killing her. I said it must be all those accessory muscles that she worked out yesterday with her 1 pound weights. Rant ensued and I was an asshole who didn't understand.
she thinks if she benches 50 pounds once she is going to wake up the next morning looking like Arnold. I WISH it was that fucking easy! Also, women seem more susceptible to the quick fix. "20 minuted abs, 20 minute butt, 20 minute any-fucking-thing is a pile of bullshit."
My wife is pretty knowledgeable when it comes to this stuff, my problem is keeping her motivated to get to the gym every week.
I see way too many dudes with tiny legs at the gym to not believe at least some of this thread's inhabitants hate lower body workouts. I'll still do deads, I just hate squats.
I used to hate squats/lower body. After working them in for the past year I have learned to love/hate them. Any of the hate left is only for my shitty mobility and being a weak ass in general.
Yeah I pretty much just get mad at the laughable situation that is my hips and try to work through it.
