The "pretty gym" is nice AF and has 6 squat racks, 6 benches, and a boxing area And it's a block from my apt. HP is 30 minutes in 5:30 traffic. I love Pure. Haven't had to wait for a rack or bench in 9 months. Probably be full time Golds though when I move away from DT in June. The unorthodox New Years resolutioners' lifts are pretty entertaining. And one hippie was benching a couple months ago with just 10s. Kept adding one after each set. Ended up with ~8 10s on each side. It was amazing
yah i make sure I do. I think I get better depth than 90% of the ppl at the gym-see lots of ppl doing basically half squats. Made a weird grunting noise as I came up but yolo. Probably could have gotten more. Probably do 285 next time. Gonna keep going up by 10 till I just can't anymore.
So there's a USAW/USAPL joint meet in Georgia in July. They're doing a powerlifting meet, a weightlifting meet, and a superman meet (powerlifting & weightlifting). I think I may try the superman meet out. I'm going to have an embarrassingly low weightlifting total, but it sounds pretty fun.
Standard snatch & clean & jerk. The disparity would be hilarious. Have a decent shot at squatting 500, then go and snatch 185.
Really hate getting lazy and fat then having to lose weight and be weak as fuck. Probably bc I lose it fast and unhealthy and at detriment to lifting. Maxed squats at 420 last fall. Worked back into the mid low 300s for 5x5 but then the cliff fell off. Struggling at 285. Feel like a bitch. Oly lifts were coming along nicely. Now can't do em for shit. Another month of hardcore thyroid aided weight loss, feeling like a bitch, but hey skinny!! Then on to actually eating right and gaining strength back. Dear diary, Sincerely fetch strong then real fast and lazy on repeat
Local sporting goods store is going out of business. Just kopped an EZ bar and a set of 35 & 45 lb dumbbells on the cheap
Maybe, IDK. Gotta figure out how to work in deadlifts and more bench into my oly routine. My boss wants me to compete in it with him. Wish there was a class between 207 and 185. That's a big jump
Columbus has been completely taken over by the Arnold Classic My gym was a zoo this week Check out the highlights on instagram lots of lifting celebs checked in Powerhouse Columbus
Do it. You should be able to add in Bench fine. I don't see it being detrimental at all to weightlifting since it doesn't tax your CNS and your cheat isn't pivotal at all in weightlifting. Deadlifts will take some being smart. Maybe deadlift variations and a bunch of heavy upper back work I don't think I can successfully cut down to 207 by then so I'll probably be a very light guy in the 105kg class
I was at about 210 when I competed in August. I didn't really care to cut weight so was light as fuck in the 105 class. I might be able to work DLs into my current sets on Thursdays. I don't do any heavy benching right now, but I could maybe start doing it 2x a week vs pushups and higher reps. I might do it, IDK.
He'll have a 500kg/1,102lb squat and a 400kg/881lb deadlift by the end of 2018. He may go 1,100 squat 900 deadlift. Guy is an animal.
Just email Citadel Nutrition to see if I can train at their gym while I'm in Atlanta this weekend. Fingers crossed. http://www.cntrainingcenter.com/gallery/
That's what I'm worried about. Just moved and the new house has a workout room that we're putting together. May go with a rower instead and just run outside. I love incline sprints though

So I decided to finally to do a USAPL event for the hell of it. But there is a small concern... The meet is at Lutcher high school. They happen to be the home of the 9-time state champion....girls division. They have a freshman chick who DL's 440 pounds. I swear if I get shown up by high school girls...
What is a good website that has info on the legitimacy of using certain supplements, vitamins, etc. like should i be using creatine or not.
Struggling with deadlifts, both maintaining form and grip. Ordered straps for the grip, when do I consider a belt? Is a belt going to cheat strengthening my lower back?
I am an advocate for belts personally, but only on working sets. I'm beltless on warmup sets. I'm also an advocate for straps on heavier volume sets, but the vast majority of my work is done without them. What kind of grip do you use? What else are you doing to supplement your grip strength?
Both can be strengthened with exercises outside of the deadlift. I'll let lhprop1 handle the Grip exercises. Form wise you're probably needing a stronger back. Do a lot of upper back/lay work. Your back can handle a ton of volume.
Strong Lifts 5x5, so really no supplemental grip strengthening lifts other than bent row, chin-ups, and pull-ups.
Fucking John Haack was training at Fitness Factory today. Also notice he's rocking the Legacy lifters.
