Anyone have a rec for gym shorts? I like them to be a few inches above my knees. So 5' inseam? I can only ever find the baggy basketball ones at stores
I have a couple from Old Navy that are nice and short for when I'm lifting. Otherwise, I would just go down an Amazon rabbit hole.
Lululemon. They are a couple inches above my knees but I'm tall. Or you could just say fuck it and wear tights
So my hammy isn't ready for pulling still. Pulled 485 and it felt like a million. Decided to squat up to 390. Oddly enough no issues really. I am easily doing my 531 numbers doe.
Going to eat well this week and not drink a sip till at least Thursday, time to make progress Quite pissed at myself right now
I don't think there really would be. Make sure you're pinching your shoulder blades together to keep them as healthy as possible. Throw in some high rep face pulls or band pull aparts afterwards.
I’m doing 5x5 still. Is there any detriment to doing the accessory work on the day following the 5x5? Not enough rest for the muscles?
Deadlift set today was 10x135 10x185 10x235 10x 285 1x355 10x285 about killed me, no idea how I got the 355 up
LOL Apparently I know the owner of this gym. So many guys used to hate on him back in the day at another gym because he was strictly a PL. So he'd be setting up bands and chains to do pulls and people would whine about the noise. I'm happy he went all in and created something for himself.
According to my 531 app me doing 180x14 means I can bench 265. Pretty :skepticalhippo: but damn it I’ll give it a try.
The burning I felt in my hamstrings on my 5th and 6th set of high rep seated leg curls is like nothing I have ever experienced. Highly recommend.
Fun fact about Larry. He's not a real human. Born a cyborg and outfitted with the most up to date skin technology people confuse him for a real person all the time. Anything over 6 reps is a little tricky to guess a 1RM. Did you hit 14 on the 5,3, or 1 day?
After lifting with the Elitefts SSB, I can say it's a pretty badass bar. The padding is best-in-class. The camber angles are just about perfect to create a really nice balance on the back. I will say the Crepsinsek SSB I used to train with is the best in terms of balance. Nothing will beat it. But the EFS is pretty damn close and the padding is far superior. I'm thinking of training exclusively with the SSB on squats for a while.
How have you guys dealt with knee tendinitis historically? I think the squat volume I'm doing has flared it up and it's been going for a couple weeks now. Not awful and I can work through it, but it's annoying enough that I'm wondering what else I should try. I dropped like 30-40 pounds from what I had been squatting just to give them a little break, but it hasn't helped all that much.
Yea, I realized I wasn't cueing myself to open my hips/push my knees out so I was getting some knee cave when I came out of the hole. Are you driving your knees out at all?
If Henslaya's expensive equipment is whatever the hell fancy pants brand you just named and your sub-par equipment is Charles Shaw, all of my homemade equipment must be moonshine. We all get drunk, either way. I just get a lot drunker than the rest of you. Metaphorically speaking, of course.
Not sure, honestly. I can take some videos of form tomorrow and post those. Where do you guys usually host that stuff to make it easier to post here? I should add that I have been working out in my running shoes, so I'm guessing that the heel on those are larger than I should probably be using and maybe I should try using a flatter shoe.
This will help a lot. I'm not too sure on the video place other than YouTube? Create a TMB account there and upload?
I'm 6'3" with a wingspan to match and pretty commonly have the outside of my hands ~1-2" from the rack. That, and tucking my shoulder blades, feels like the only way I can get the pecs involved and not have pain in my delts.
Youtube would probably be easiest. Just make a throwaway account if you want to avoid creepers. I would stop using running shoes. It's not the heel lift, it's the material of the sole. It feels WAY better to use a solid sole shoe (or barefoot/socks). Running shoes have a cushiony sole which absorbs the energy you're trying to push into the ground. Lastly, definitely slow down/lighten the load and listen to your body.
should have waited till today or wednesday to workout. Everything was shit Squats 175 5x5 Bench 165x5 185x5 205x5 215x5 225x9 finished with some core
Squatted 255x10 on my AMRAP set. Capstone 88 that “front squat” machine is a hammer strength linear hack press.
Worked up to 395x3 on deficit DL. Had a few more in the tank but the last rep felt a little funny in the lower back. Finished with: Pull ups DB rows Hammer curls Ab wheel
The LA fitness that I used to go to years ago had one. It's a really weird machine, I always felt it was just as much about stabilization and keeping your back in place as it was about lifting the weight.
I need a squat machine to cure me being a vag about big weights Leg strength has increased a ton but still feel like a bitch
Nothing like training your legs to dump copious endorphines and testosterone post-workout into your system. They’re big muscles,
My DPT wife is telling me it doesn't look like knee tendinitis but just extremely tight quads that are limiting movement of my knee cap. She's probably right and that's why it doesn't hurt while I'm actually lifting (I'm warmed up and stretched out).
Here are some money saving DIY tips. Deadlift jack: Get some 2 ton jack stands from your local auto parts store. The same jack stands I use to work on my truck work just fine for deadlifting. Lat Pulldown: Step 1. Mount three of these on the bottom of one of the trusses in your garage. https://www.grainger.com/product/5R...83024&ef_id=WRxuXwAAAIICREBX:20171018140113:s Step 2. Get some 3/8" steel cable and feed it over the end block, under the middle block, and back over the other end block. I prefer the non-coated steel wire rope. If you get the stuff with the rubber coating, it will just wear off. Step 3. Put one of these at each end. https://www.mscdirect.com/browse/tnpla/67778944?cid=ppc-bing-New - Material Handling & Storage - PLA_BpAoYe5y__be_74148365245737_c_&mkwid=BpAoYe5y|dc&pcrid=74148365245737&product_id=67778944 and secure it with two of these. https://www.mscdirect.com/product/details/07846082 Step 4. Attach carabineers to each end. Step 5. Get one of these to attach the weights to https://www.ironmind-store.com/12-Standard-Plate-Loading-Pin-Snap-Clip/productinfo/1313-C/ and attach the handle of your choice to the pulling end. Step 6. Learn to swim, because you're going to be drowning in pussy once you get jakked from using this and women see how handy you are.
