He had to officially come back before he can be traded. Could just be the first step in Tom’s plan to get to SF.
I kinda like this hired gun Brady looking for championships. That brief retirement was absolutely about trying to get out of Tampa.
I find it weird that Tom Brady knows about that. I just assume he’s either studying game film, or watching Fox News when he’s not playing QB.
He's only posting that to defuse the rumors that he's Jefree Star's secret NFL boyfriend in Wyoming with him right now.
If I'm the Bucs I'm letting it be known that everyone besides Wirfs and maybe Winfield is available. The FA group at WR is awful this year and the draft doesn't have high end sure fire prospects at WR like 2021/2022 so they could possibly get a nice return on Evans and Godwin. A team like the Bills in particular should be very interested in Godwin if it can work with the cap.
Evans is a no brainer to move if you rebuild. He'll be 30 before next season starts. He's not gonna be around to see the other side of a rebuild anyway. Godwin will be 27 before next season starts. Entirely possible he's still around and good when the Bucs are ready again but if you can get a first for him I'd rather have that at this point if I'm blowing it up. I say this assuming they do the smart thing and rebuild. Could always just bring in a vet QB and run it back again and hope to barely squeak I to the playoffs with an aging roster. Personally I think that's a bad idea.
I don’t know if I can recall an NFL team taking the madden approach and completely blowing up a roster for the sake of a rebuild. Still have to put asses in seats. Guys like Evans and Lavonte David probably have the appeal of leading a younger group into the next phase since they went through that transition themselves. Plus, both probably have their numbers retired once they hang it up.
NFL teams do it all the time. Evans isn't a long term piece and has value. He needs to be cashed in for that value. I'm not saying you get rid of every good player for nothing. You keep younger guys for sure. But keeping Evans just because seems like not a smart use of resources given where the team will likely be.
