Maynard complained about the elevation a couple of times.

He did have a funny exchange with the crowd.

After opiate, he says "supposedly this is Denver", crowd roars, he says "ehh sounds more like Colorado Springs" crowd roars even louder, "keep working on it"

You might have to live here to fully get it but it was a funny jab

I forget which show it was but there were pictures and video of Maynard (later joined by Adam & Justin while DC played CCTrip) in a sort of makeshift room under the stage watching some UFC title fight on a TV that was set up specifically for just that. Apparently he hopped down several times throughout the show before/after/during instrumental parts of songs to watch and get updates.

 

Yeah I've seen that video. At first we were kind of annoyed that our seats were so far over, but we had all seen Tool plenty enough that it ended up being an awesome vantage point to watch Danny go to work and see what Maynard does between songs.

 

He said the exact same thing, word for word the other night except it was Orlando/Daytona Beach.

 

Flew up to Louisville today to see Tool again with my buddy that lives up here. And I swear to Christ that they have to be trolling with these fucking openers. This is my seventh Tool show, and every single opener has been god awful. Just fucking noise cranked as loud as ear drums can handle. I liked the name “The Acid Helps” but that was horrible. Guantanamo Bay shit. Thank god they’re done. Now for the good stuff.

I've seen great acts like Tricky, Tomahawk, and Primus all open for Tool but once they got this band called Melt Banana that was one of the worst things I've ever seen and heard in my life.

 

Was that the Asian chicks that just squealed and screamed over loud choppy metal riffs? Cuz I remember that, and it was the worst band I’ve ever seen in person lol.

Here for the Melt Banana opening for Tool hate. It was…different.

 

Meshuggah opened up for them on one tour too, but the first time I saw them I believe some dude was in a chicken suit standing on his drum set and I was so confused

Melt Banana is the loudest band I've ever heard in my life.

Yes to Soundgarden, no to Motörhead. Mastodon was pretty fucking loud too, but they ruled. Melt Banana was like an audio assault. It was weird as shit, but definitely memorable.

 

I believe they’re $60 for the regulars and $300 for the signed version. The issue is having to get there when the doors literally open to the public as they always sell out instantly because of the overwhelming demand and the dickheads who buy as many as possible to flip online.

 

Had Blonde Redhead thank goodness instead of Melt Banana for the opener.

 

Pixies was loudest I saw

 

Mastodon at the Fox in Atlanta 3-4 years ago was painfully loud. It actually hurt my ears/head.

 

Saw them tonight in Columbus. Can confirm they are a good band

 

Great show last night. First saw them in ‘98 and they’re still great live

 

Yearly get together with my buds was in Omaha this weekend. First time taking mushrooms, which were perfectly timed to enhance my first ever Tool experience.

Absolutely blew my fucking mind. I've never seen anything like that.

Have to say I’m intrigued about the Maynard/Marc combo. Both incredibly talented.

Knew that. And quite a bit about his background. Also that he did movie special effects. Just not that he worked specifically on JP and other Hollywood blockbusters.
