Oh boy. The drummer of my former band wants to do a Tool cover show next fall. Here's the list he suggested: SET 1 Stink Fist Eulogy The Pot 46&2 H. Prison Sex AEnema SET2 Vicarious Ticks & Leeches Sober Hooker With A Penis Lateralus Opiate No Quarter I'm 100% in, but I hope he doesn't expect me to sing that shit. I can croak through one or two of them, but who the fuck is going to scream through Ticks? Not me.
do everyone in attendance a favor and drop The Pot and Sober in lieu of something better also when are we going to get footage of your previous Tool work?
is calling them a jam band the hot take? I'm not the biggest fan either but it's more due to them feeling so mechanical to me
I feel like we’ve quibbled on genre labels before so apologies for being that guy, but… Jam band = improvised music. Rush’s music is thoroughly composed, don’t think they do much jamming
Perhaps that’s a fair assessment but semantics aside it’s the seemingly aimless meandering or rambling that comes across directionless that just doesn’t do it for me. Improvised or not it’s often borderline pretentious and overly grandiose. I’m well aware that Adam & Co. have moved slightly in that direction over the years too and I’d say that’s my biggest critique of FI.
with the exception of maybe Bomani they should bump all of those guests and just interview Danny 4 straight nights
This may be sacrilege, but after decades of putting out nothing for the fans, all this shit now kinda seems off to me. Glad he’s doing an Epiphone version and hope some kids can actually get their hands on some.
All you know about me’s what I’ve sold you. Dumb fuck I sold out long before you ever even heard my name
the band fought Volcano for years and eventually all but acknowledged that they were fine having a non existent online store/merchandise while still under contract because they hated the label so much and didn't want to make them money. Same rationale as to why they weren't on any streaming services until the literal month FI released and they were no longer under contract. It was shortly after that their website got a makeover and the online store was expanded and actually stocked with shit on a consistent basis. AJ's deal with Gibson is obviously on another level.
I'm just salty that they produced a fetus skull statue before a live album that has been teased for 20 years, or hell, before the 10,000 days vinyl.
much of that is 3rd party stuff they just give their OK to as I’m sure you’re aware that was one of the 9 million Alex Grey pieces they’ve pushed right?
saw that yesterday was the 17th anniversary of 10,000 Days and I felt old as fuck excited for a fall tour though
Saw Iron Maiden for the first time a few years ago. They were amazing. Couldn’t imagine them in their prime.
holy shit I’m old but god damn does this still hold up as one of the absolute best musical offerings of the last quarter century
Just got into their discography. Immediately picked up November tickets. Think 10,000 Days is my favorite album closely followed by Lateralus, though you can't go wrong with any of them. Haven't listened to much else besides Tool for a few weeks.
10,000 Days (the song) is currently my favorite Tool song. But Lateralis is my favorite album. Welcome to a wonderful world.
also congrats on and I’m jealous of your first concert experience it’s cliche to say something lame like ‘there’s nothing else like it!’ but they’re usually pretty unique. Bummed there isn’t really anything in the Midwest(except for that Milwaukee show that I assume you’re going to?) but hope they freshen up the set list a bit for this tour
