Slow year imo with a couple big disappointments. I didnt play everything but my list is: !: Overwatch- By a large margin 2: Dark Souls 3- Nostalgic trip through Souls memory lane 3: Rise of the Tomb Raider (PS4)- The reboot of this series has made this a day one purchase for me 4: Battlefield 1- Ton of fun and i hope it causes a resurgance in WW games 5: Dying Light The Following- Criminally underrated game 2017 i think is gonna be huge for gamers. Really cant wait to dive into some of the titles on deck. What say you?
agreed although i would say overwatch is an all time great. this generation in general has been awful but 2017 has the potential to be a stand out year
I think we get Cyberpunk 2077 next year, right? My top 5 for this year: - Pokémon Sun/Moon - Inside - Battlefield 1 - Titanfall 2 - Witcher 3: Blood and Wine
That would be fantastic although i have zero clue. Im super interested to see what CDPR can do outside of The Witcher.
Poland just gave CDPR a 7m grant to research seamless multiplayer and real-time city creation. It probably won't be released in 2017 since it sounds like they have massive plans for their online component. I can wait. I have plenty of Witchering to do.
Overwatch WoW: Legion Final Fantasy 15 Pokemon Sun and Moon Dark Souls 3 I'm sure Civ 6 would be 1 or 2 if i had bought it yet, and I could see Dishonored 2 or Titanfall 2 on there, again, if I had bought them yet. First two episodes of season 3 of the walking dead were quite good but it is what it is. Same with Firewatch. Good year for Blizzard for sure.
Overwatch BF1 Not really interested in much outside of there this year. Got the division and was enormously disappointed.
fair enough, just figured someone would have that had already responded. My top new games were - 1. Uncharted 4 2. Battlefield 1 I have Homeworld: Deserts of Kharak, Deus Ex: Mankind Divided and Dishonored 2 that I bought but didn't get to, I know they would have figured prominently on the list. Really looking forward to playing Inside and XCom 2 next time they are on sale. I don't typically buy games as soon as they come out, so a lot of my favorites that I played in 2016 were older games that I never got around to before. Witcher 3, Child of Light, MGS5, Bloodborne, Kerbal Space Program, etc. So to me it was a great gaming year, especially since i joined the master race again in May, but i can see how it was underwhelming for some. 2017 should be awesome. I will buy Horizon on Day 1, looking forward to Days Gone (not likely i know), Fractured But Whole, Ghost Recon, Prey, Ace Combat 7, etc
I'm sure Uncharted and Dishonored would make my list if I had played them. I've been playing Bloodborne again lately and I have to say from a pure PVE standpoint (completely excluding the broken PVP) I enjoy it immensely. I hope something outta the fromsoft camp comes to surface in 2017
i notice game of the year overwatch is not on your list but mechanically flawed shooter battlefield is
I never ever ever play competitive online shooters, I have always been strictly campaign, so Overwatch was never on my radar. I was really intrigued by the WW1 setting so i went for it. Has many mechanical flaws for sure, and it can be damned frustrating, but it can also be really fun too. I'm sure Overwatch is fun too, but its just not really my thing.
Lot of people seemed to change their minds on The Division as it got more updates. Did you go back and play it later?
I mean, i'll play them if they have enough redeeming qualities that i can ignore it. Gears just feels different than all of the others. TLOU has stealth and a captivating story. I was hoping the Division would have good enough co op aspects that i could enjoy it, and it may have now, but i really hated everything about how the game felt and thats just something i can't ignore. same reason i can't play mgs or uncharted despite the fact that i really would love to play both.
I feel like Uncharted has a lot of the same good qualities of TLoU, just without the stealth. I assume you've played one or more of the series and didn't like it?
You know I feel the exact same way and I have zero issues with TPS at all. Idk what it is about it that just keeps from playing them but it's something. I think tomb raider scratches that itch for me and that may be all I can handle
I love borderlands 2 and played over a thousand hrs of Destiny. I've gone back to the division in the past couple months and had fun but about a month and a half after launch I felt like I would never play it again. It's better now but the early going was rough
I stuck with it all the way through but the 2nd and 3rd patch really messed it up. I will give them credit though they put a lot of time and testing into 4.1 and 5.1 and it made the game great. It helps that I have a core group of friends that I play with too.
47 straight VictorJ24 and Trofie would probably agree with all of this. Did RL come out in 2015 or 2014? That will make a difference assuming we're talking about releases. My most played this year have to be: 1. Overwatch 2. SMITE 3. Rocket League 4. BF 1 5. The Division Gigantic is also pretty fun if any of you have tried it out, but it's still only in Beta mode. The games I'm most looking forward to 2017 are: 1. Sea of Thieves 2. Red Dead Redemption 2 3. Star Citizen Not sure what to put for the next ones... Destiny 2, We Happy Few, Kingdom Come all look good
Top 5 I'm looking forward to: 1) Breath of the Wild 2) Super Mario Odyssey 3) Red Dead Redemption 2 4) Mass Effect Andromeda 5) whatever Square Enix/Marvel have up their sleeve
Right now mine looks like: 1. Horizon Zero Dawn 2. Prey 3. Fractured But Whole 4. Little Nightmares 5. Ace Combat 7 Also, i don't know what the controls will be like on console, but I highly recommend Bulletstorm when it comes out in April. I'm playing it on PC right now and it is ridiculous fun, makes me very nostalgic for Duke Nukem, same feel and over the top, crude style and humor.
Do people actually think Red dead will come out in 17? i cant remember rockstar ever finishing anything just even remotely close to when they said they would.
Aren't they always pretty good about announcing and releasing close to each other? I think they're one of the better developers, actually
I can't imagine RD2 will be out in 2017, but would rather they keep it til its done. But yeah, Rockstar definitely one of the better developers, though i guess it depends on your criteria.
I believe you think you're neighbor is up to something nefarious. He's either a terrorist or kidnapping people and holding them captive, or something along those lines. It looks like the entire goal is to sneak into his house without him catching you and uncover his secret. Looks awesome, but I'm not sure how they'll manage to make an actual real game out of it.
Still haven't bought a next generation console so this makes me feel like I haven't missed much I've pretty much stopped playing video games so maybe the good games that come out this year will draw me back in
It hasn't been as great overall as some of the other generations, but the top stuff is still very high quality. You'd have a nice little backlog of good games to play if you jumped in now. Wouldn't even realize it was a slow starting generation.
