Nope. As a kid/young adult I remember watching ET, Back To The Future, Rocky, Bueller, Stand By Me, Gremlins, Karate Kid, Full Metal Jacket, Star Wars, Platoon, Goonies and possibly a few more I'm not thinking of.
I was a bit bummed when I heard they were doing a sequel. I didn't want it to ruin the original. After watching the trailer I'm pretty stoked for the movie now. I'm 33 and I've seen Top Gun I don't know how many times. A lot of that is because I was in the Navy but I had seen it before I was in. The Helo detachment we had attached to my ship used to always request it so we had it playing on loop on one of the movie channels.

A young Love Tractor watched Top Gun roughly 87 times one summer in my youth. Had every line memorized. My 10 year old son couldn’t understand why I was so excited about this movie. Last night we watched the original and now he gets it. Very proud father/son moment.
BTW, you'd have to abso-fucking-lutely nail the casting, but a movie about Dalton and Wade's antics(maybe how Wade got Dalton involved in "cooling" to start) before they meet back up at the Double Deuce would be amazing.
