Thought Sanchez and Dier were really strong that half. Stop me if you’ve heard this before in a big game - we’d be fine if it wasn’t for an inexplicably awful individual effort.
thought hugo was pretty sharp as well, especially after his last outing i think we just need to get eriksen and dele out there
We could really use Eriksen and Dele out there but not sure how fit they are. Also could use Winks with his calmness on the ball. Our middle of the field is really lacking especially in our attacking half.
Much more likely City get a second completely against the run of play after a sustained period of Spurs possession/chances.
That was always going to curl out from Eriksen, tough shot from a tough ball. I have no idea how to improve the finishing for this club but it really needs work. Edit: and I am including the last key ball as well. The incisive pass.
Opportunity was there for a result and once again we fail to capitalize. I feel like Harry was pretty anonymous and I’m getting kinda tired of saying that.
Hey, good result for our goal differential though. The best case of the expected result. Idk, I just know I'm feeling the same way that Poch does: sure, "great" start to the PL campaign, but why does this feel so shitty?
You know what was interesting though, you'd think that Man City would become a little more defensive later in the game as their 1 goal lead was seeming to be the difference. Instead, either they didn't sit back or our attack with Dele and Eriksen and Winks working together negated their defensive structure.
I keep reminding myself that it’s a long season. Playing catch-up is going to be very difficult with this top 4 race though.
He’s obviously exhausted and a bit out of form, but I don’t really know what we could expect given the midfield 3 we started with. Game changed entirely once Winksy and Dele came on, but as all too often, it was far too late.
Team is obviously totally different when Eriksen and Dele play. Have to just pray they stay healthy. We really need Sonny to get back into form as well and provide another goal scoring threat. Winks is clearly our best midfielder but I don’t think Poch wants to overuse him and risk another injury. We just need to keep beating the non top six teams and hope for a healthier rest of the season. We’re never going to get back to previous years form if we can’t field our starting lineup.
Yeah that's huge. If we can get Eriksen extended next it would make me feel a lot better about the future of this team.
Pretty sure this is one of the few if not the first. I feel like if it's not lilywhites, then it's the greenish London map ones.
I pretty much dislike all of our fullbacks for one reason or another. It would be so fuckin nice if we could make some progress there in future transfer markets.
Foyth is an interesting player. I couldn’t believe that he was the furthest player up the field after that missed corner. He loves to get forward. I wonder if he winds up as a CDM eventually.
great through ball from Dele again. Son with his second after rounding the keeper. Good to see him in form. West Ham's defenders again caught out with incisive, creative passing and speed. Needed it because they've been passing it around our box for some time.
Foyth with an Alderweireld-esque clearance, somehow clearing over the bar directly in the face of goal.
These West Ham streakers sure are smart. Kill momentum, stop play, etc. VAR checking a penalty against us that I think might have merit.
Son with a last gasp chance at his third but a great recovery from Diop. Despite the final result, definitely am not confident in Wanyama at this point. Indecisive on every pass, usually kills forward momentum by recycling possession to the back line. More like a bumbling, stuttering bulldozer than a brick wall in defense. I want him to reclaim that former glory he used to be.
