I mean we haven't been linked to a single left back this transfer window, and I doubt they're going to rely entirely on Davies.
Rose has been pretty candid about his desire to be closer to home in the past, though I don’t see any of the northwest clubs bringing him in right now. Guess we’ll see.
How did nobody mention Kyle Walker Peters? Between Foyth, KWP, and Aurier I think we have adequate cover. There was also talk of one of the wingers playing as a wing back.
Yeah the entire back line is getting be a bit worrisome. Trippier it seems is definitely out the door. And Alderweireld still seems 50/50 at best to be back next season. Rose leaving would leave us in a bad spot. Sessegnon would seem to be the long term answer at LB but don’t think he’s ready to be counted on yet. Not bringing in a CB or FB to replace Toby and Trippier/Rose would be a mistake. I’m not a big believer in KWP. He’s fine going forward but his size is a problem. Surely Levy and Poch have contingency plans if those 1, 2, or all 3 end up leaving. Surely. Hopefully. Probably not
Because he’s not very good? Relying on a trio of Serge, KWP, and Foyth at RB is a recipe for disaster.
I don’t agree. I think KWP is pretty good and given a chance can be a top RB. I think it’s a case of not getting an extended run, but there is a reason Poch kept him on the squad. I’ve seen signs of really good stuff out of him when given a chance. I thin’ he just needs to be counted on.
Agree to disagree. He’s a low-level PL player, and if he wasn’t an academy graduate/home grown player, I’m not sure he’d still be around. I’d love for him to prove me wrong, though.
Do we want this Correa guy that Athletico is reportedly offering us in the Trippier deal? Seems to not be very productive but that doesn’t always tell the entire story?
Best of luck to Trips. He (rightfully) took a ton of shit last year, but a change of scenery and playing in a more defensive system should suit him well.
I think we see one or two more outgoings before we splash for Lo Celso or the Sessegnon bros. Ceballos and Saliba are pretty much done to Arsenal (although Saliba is loaned back of course). Saw that we are not looking for a RB, that we'll be going forward with Aurier/Foyth/KWP. Not comfortable with that.
This pretty much is the real beginning of a window of opportunity to win the league over the next few seasons, should we make the right moves. We've knocked on the door/put on the pressure like real pros in recent years (Leicester year was just a fluky down season for many of the top clubs). We simply need to improve in a few facets and pad the depth chart in anticipation of inevitable poor injury luck.
I'm not expecting us to really compete with City or Liverpool but we should be closer to them then Chelsea/Man U/Arsenal. All three of those teams have some serious issues and couldn't finish above us/barely finished above us last year when we made zero signings. We already made the big signing everyone wanted so I'm not expecting any other big one unless Eriksen gets sold. But we need to make some smart depth buys at FB and CB (and preferably another MF) so we can withstand inevitable injuries. Our defense has gone from best in the league a few years ago to potentially a big problem if we sell Toby and don't buy any reinforcements.
I think you guys have the biggest question mark with how many players from your starting 11 that could leave still. Hard to replace all that quality.
So do we actually think we're going to get Lo Celso? Would signing him signal Eriksen is on the way out? Or is there any way we sign him and keep Christian?
It does look like Lo Celso is on his way out. He’s submitted a transfer request and Betis are linked with Nabil Fekir from Lyon. As far as Eriksen goes Real look to have cooled on him so unless he’s going to cunt it up and let his contract run down to go to Juve or something maybe he can be convinced to stay.
if we can get lo celso and keep eriksen, i'm going to (obviously) be stoked, but if the choice is one or the other, i'm taking eriksen all day
I mean, reframe the hypothetical: Lo Celso for several years or Eriksen with one year left leaving on a free?
Leandro Damiao scored a header to beat Chelsea in their friendly. Almost once a Spur always almost a Spur
Are you guys sure you're not talking about just Vincent? Sounds like you crossed wires and assumed Victor was also shipping out. No indication of that from what I've seen.
I was talking about Janssen. I did see Wanyama linked with West Ham the other day, though I’m skeptical we’d sell him there.
Am i reading too much into CE being on this trip and being out and about with the guys? Seems like he’d be hanging back in London if something was eminent.
Ronaldo extra-pressing KWP who was shielding a ball out for a goal kick, now clutching his knee and wincing and taking a miserable shot. Serves ya right. Spurs have looked way more cohesive despite starting so many academy players vs Juve's almost first XI.
Sissoko, Moura, Kane, Vertonghen, Foyth coming on. Toby, Son, Parrott, Tananga, and Dele done with their shift for today.
Wow, clear as fuck penalty. Edit: For those unable to watch, 6v4 attack and Lamela slotted a perfect little through ball to Lucas who is taken down from behind with a scythe of a kick by a Juve defender, not sure who. Nowhere, nowhere near the ball
