the long balls to no one -- not even a player on the other team -- are going to make me throw something at the television
Since we aren’t making UCL (let’s be real), the best thing that can happen is to fall out of the European spots entirely to just focus on the league next year. Realistically, we’re at least two transfer windows from being competitive again. Good times.
I, for one, would still accept UCL next year if we miraculously manage it. Think of the entertainment and all of the $$$ that we will almost spend on players like Dybala.
Yeah, I have few good things to say about him so far. The players are certainly more motivated than they were August through October under Poch... but that's about it. The team makes too many obvious mistakes, plays sloppy and undisciplined - even on good days - and at a certain point that's a reflection of the manager.
On another note, it continues to boggle my mind that these braintrusts didn't sign a striker in January. How much money are they risking by not playing in Europe next year just in TV money? 100mm pounds sterling? Anyone with even a passing interest in this sport could look at that lineup and realize they were a Son Hueng-min injury from being completely incapable of scoring goals, and of course, that's exactly what's happened. Here's a take for you: https://www.forbes.com/sites/graham...layed-into-jose-mourinhos-hands/#49cbc590629a
One reason why I think they were so adamant to loan with an option to buy rather than buy outright was the Troy Parrott factor. Him waiting to sign a contract made it more difficult for the club to bring someone else in.That and Levy's insistence on not making panic buys for the likes of Willian Jose or Piatek. Shitty situation but I kinda get why it happened. Son's injury really fucks us.
On the other hand though, giving Mourinho a plausible excuse for not living up to his paycheck is an absolute failure by the club.
It literally comes down to money. The cupboard was empty. The bank would not allow us to commit more than we did. Loan with option to buy was the only option. I know people keep thinking we are stacked with money because we are showing big profits, but everyone conveniently forgets that the stadium costs went well beyond the budget.
I'll always take UCL. We don't even make the transfers we do now if we don't have that money. And fuck United.
Between this type of dumbfuckery and the (potentially more serious) shit with hanging out with Troy Parrott and the son of an Irish drug dealer in Dubai over the winter break... ...there's a real chance Dele gets sold this summer.
They'd be idiots to sell Dele this summer. His value has plummeted from where it was just two years ago. But Levy is a fucking idiot so he probably will sell Dele at his lowest value. He literally just did that with Eriksen last month.
Speaking of Levy continuing to suck, how the hell do we not have a name on our stadium? Almost every stadium has that figured out before it opens and here we are almost a year in and there seems to be zero movement.
he's 23 (or 24?). Plenty of clubs that play a 10 are going to look at him like he's being misused at Spurs (probably true); that all he needs is a solid midfielder behind him.
https://sports.yahoo.com/tottenhams-alli-faces-ban-coronavirus-post-184628012--sow.html Jose reminds us that Dele "has an Asian friend" so he can't be a racist. "I think it is unnecessary because the player understands the naivety of the situation, the player is a good guy, the player even in the dressing room has a big Asian friend (Son Heung-min) that he loves."
At least we didn't lose in the last minute of extra time to Olympiakos in the Europa league Rd of 32. On away goals. Shout out to our former group stage brethren.
mind you, Wolfs have been shit in the back today too... and if Spurs had a striker or literally anyone who could finish from up top this would be done and put away
