I don’t see a lot of parts on this team who can be successful under Mourinho. The rebuilding effort in this offseason is going to be dramatic. It’s somewhat ironic that we finally started spending some money and then simultaneously went to shit.
It doesn’t get talked about nearly as much, but Toby’s fallen off a cliff just like Jan has. That contract extension is looking great right now.
Again, I think this has as much to do with style of play and supporting cast as anything else. At his prime, he was in a system with perfect complements to make him excel. We possessed the ball 60-70% of the time and he was defending the counter. He was playing under so much less pressure with so many fewer opportunities to have to make a play.
lol the "highlights" of Lamela's first half. Besides GLC this entire side is trash. This is going to be a 2 or 3 year rebuild, it's going to mean selling off star players who aren't going to want to stick around for that. It might end up meaning hovering at the bottom of the table next season.
I know Lo Celso has had his moments, but I am not ready to anoint him anything yet. He has zero goals and zero assists, ndombole was a god just a few weeks back. Jury is still out.

That wasn’t my point. My point was just that I know he is supposedly the hot player of the last few weeks, but I just think the jury is out on all of them.
It’s incredible how fucked we are. This is the worst we’ve been since Ramos was sacked and we’re realistically 3-4 windows out from refreshing the squad the way it needs to be.
We fired one of the best managers in the world because our cheap owner wouldn't spend money and he wouldn't sell anyone unless it was on his terms. That flawed roster has been handed over to a garbage manager that peaked almost a decade ago. A manager who has no idea what to do tactically in today's game. He will leave this club in shambles like every place he goes. Jose Out. Levy Out.
I just don’t agree with the first part. There were constraints on how much we could spend, and even then our net spend was much larger than ever. We won plenty without having to spend. That is an excuse to me. Poch lost the team and he was shit for more than a year with this team as well. This was not a team that looked to need a rebuild. Mourinho definitely doesn’t look to be the answer though at this point in time.
Poch needed to go, and he’s a big part of the situation we’re currently in. Replacing him with Jose is where we really screwed ourselves.
Poch *wanted* to go after this summer. Maybe before that, idk. Obviously did not like Levy and that was that. As far as this club is concerned moving forward... it depends on what Kane and Son want to do. Legit I think they could be a decent team (regardless of manager) if they can keep those guys and add talent where they need it most (goaltender, center half, defensive midfield, wing back). Certainly a top 4 or 5 club. But... that's a real big 'if', and it's a real big 'and' (given Levy's reluctance to spend money and the fact that we're talking about well over 100 million pounds sterling to make those adjustments to the team's on field talent level - money might not be there).

BTW, I read something the other day that the proposal on the table is that all teams in CL this year will remain and those who are in the top positions but weren't would have to go through an extended round of qualifiers. If that occurs, this waste of a season actually winds up being a do-over. Not bad.
Oh, and as much as every game this year was absolutely miserable and painful to watch, the hope of each week bringing a good game was better than knowing that we don't have games at all. This sucks.
Would Pope be considered an upgrade at keeper? Not sure replacing Lloris should be a priority this summer.
