When my wife broke her back her surgeon was a trans woman and I would have never known if a guy I know hadn’t said he went to her two years before and her name was Tony then. She was excellent and had amazing bedside manner after the ER doc we had was a total asshat.
I worked with a trans woman at an old job. Never would have known she was born a man other than her height. She was like 6’6 and would wear high heels to work and honestly just thought she played college basketball or something. My wife had known her since jr high and said she was female even then.
it’s really interesting to see trans people 100+ years ago. it’s a good reminder that it’s not some new fad or something. it also never hurts to be reminded what the nazis took from us

Shows you how important it is to squeeze the far right out of our society. They’re capable of setting us back a full century left unchecked.
I play in a very diverse and open pinball league here in DC. Met some cool trans people. I def struggle with old verbage habits of “what’s up, man” or “good game, man”. trying to change that and be more deliberate with my proper noun usage or just drop the “man” part. is that slip up highly offensive though? I feel like I’ve pissed that person off maybe
I think thats a ymmv thing. I would say "dude" to a trans friend and she let me know. A different one regarded "dude" as gender neutral. I guess ask them off to the side and roll with whatever they say. I also say 'man' to cis women a bunch like "man i dont want to do thaaaat"... itll probably bite me later so thats a tick i think i should prob abandon
Yeah, I think it’s more of a me in my own head thing. I’m sure Eliza isn’t harshly judging me for a casual end of sentence “man”. But it’s something I need to work on. Just a habit I need to break and be more aware.
i wouldn't say it's highly offensive and i can't imagine it would be the sole reason someone writes you off. it's just something to be mindful of around strangers.
Depends on the person, I’d think, but I doubt anybody affirmatively likes it. It’s human to have slip ups from old habits, but I think it’s just as important to acknowledge that it could be shitty and just keep working to be aware and eliminate it.
I fucking love that the worst people in the world now have to hate rainbows and anything with multiple colors on it.
A friend from high school had a piece in The Washington Post about the long-term damages the recent book bans will have on LGBTQ kids.
Tories over here trying to stop kids from social transitioning without parental consent to "protect the children". Fucking twats.
Totally agree, but at the same time, I get the safety concerns. It’s absurd that there have to be safety concerns, but I do understand a business not wanting its employees assaulted when it’s foreseeable.
So just cave anytime a terrorist group makes a threat? Read Newsom's above, he's not wrong. What's next?
C'mon man you're smarter than this, you know damn good and well these evil bigots aren't going to stop, especially when they see corporations cower. There's going to be as many "threats" if not more now whenever there's widespread coordinated outrage over any LGBTQ stuff, not just the stuff Target decided to remove initially.
Sure. And that’s terrible. I’m just saying that Target not wanting its employees to face that foreseeable violence is understandable.
I guess my point is that this isn’t a matter of caving to pressure — there’s a real threat of violence. It’s absolutely terrifying and sad, but it is real. There’s a difference between choosing to be a martyr and putting working class employees in the position to be martyrs.
Totally and absolutely different but I think Target also moved all their sport collectible cards online at one point during the pandemic due to violence in stores.
I guess you can ask the entire thread devoted to it where presumably someone just opened like a million dollar bounty card or some shit. IDK.
You'd be surprised. A lot of them sell for 2-3 times retail so people will fight to get them. Same thing with shoes, PS5 at one point, etc.
I don't post in it but it's almost always on the front page. https://www.the-mainboard.com/index.php?threads/sports-card-and-memorabilia-thread.175993/
