I'm a big fan of the market but you gotta go early to about the rush. Start at the Southwest corner and get the donut holes and just check stuff out. You can find breakfast there and can walk to Cloudburst after. Get teriyaki while you're there. I prefer Nissai but just about any trashy place will do. Eat clam chowder at Dukes if you're near South Lake Union. Sushi is tremendous and I always recommend Sushi Kappo Tamura
Fun things to do in Seattle whilst : -Seattle Art Museum -Walk around UW campus -Olympic Sculpture Park -Chihuly Gardens and Glass -Space Needle -Monorail -Market -Ethnic or seafood restaurant -Brewery -Sounders game -Harbor cruise or whale watching cruise -Coffee -Gasworks park (preferably at sunset) -Experience Music Project
Hello, friends - making my way to Seattle for the first time in about 15 years; food recommendations nearish the Convention Center?
Are you staying at the Convention Center? It's pretty centrally located so you'll have a ton of options. Walk down Pike St and in 10-15 minutes you'll be at Pike Place Walk up Pike St, maybe 4-5 blocks, and you'll be in the middle of everything in Capitol Hill. Tons of restaurants and bars. Some specific ones in that area: -Bill's Off Broadway -- good sports bar, decent food -Redhook Brew Pub -- new gastro/brewpub that just opened in a brand new building, really cool venue. Good beer and decent small plates -Stateside -- pretty fancy French/Vietnamese fusion. A little pricey -Ba Bar -- good Vietnamese restaurant/bar. Decently priced, amazing fish sauce chicken wings -Annapurna -- awesome Indian/Nepali food -Taylor Shellfish Farms -- popular tourist spot, the one in CapHill only serves raw oysters, but they're delicious -Linda's Tavern -- not a restaurant, one of my favorite dive bars in the city. Really close to your place Down near Pike Place there are plenty of restuarants, but generally more expensive/cater to tourists walking around the market If you want some options outside of Cap Hill (will need to drive/uber): -Windy City Pie -- allegedly authentic Chicago-style pizza, I wasn't a fan though, but I also didn't love deep dish style, so maybe it's me -Un Bien -- arguably the most famous sandwich in Seattle, up in Fremont. Lives up to the hype -Junebaby -- a little pricey, southern-style soul food. If your company is picking up your tab, go here one night. It's one of the most popular restaurants in the city over the past year
Got some good recs in here. Headed out tomorrow morning. Need a good place to watch the rockets/golden state game tomorrow evening. Staying at the Edgewater.
Buckley's in Belltown, best sports bar in Seattle. It's a 5-10 minute walk from you. Or Belltown Pub, right across the block.
Staying downtown at the Grand Hyatt for the night before the cruise takes off tomorrow. Any places with live music on a Thursday night?
Was there for a few days after Crystal Mountain after Christmas. Outside of great beers, a surprisingly fun thing we found to do was to visit the Pinball Museum. They have like 50+ machines and serve beers so you can spend quite a few hours mashing paddles.
Being able to play emulated tables on the ps4 (with the added bonus of knowing what I’m supposed to go for, and without all of the fuckery of not actually being able to bump the machine, all the while churning through an inordinate amount of quarters) has increased my level of frustration on actual machines tenfold. Still planning on living that hell in person, though.
George and Dragon Pub will by far be the best atmosphere, but that’s up in Fremont. Just a 5-10 min uberr. Buckley’s Belltown is the local sports bar, will probably be slammed. Belltown Pub is nearby and a little more subdued. Near downtown, Fado’s is a good Irish pub you could try. Old Stove Brewing just opened a new rooftop on top of Pike, not sure about TV situation.
Going to Central Smoke tonight. Anyone been? Whole menu looks incredible don’t know how we are going to decide.
Have not, but heard good things. Probably don't even need a kitchen with all the smoke in the fucking air. Blame Canada
Nice. Welcome to the party. Hopefully TheChatch has AC and it's getting pumped straight into his domicile.
Where is this? I’ll be staying in downtown. Thinking of heading to Southlake Union area or Fremont for dinner and beers.
don't bother A+ for the inventive menu A+ for the cocktails (that variation of a manhattan over smoked rock I posted in GroupMe Corky Bucek was fantastic) C- food We ordered the stuffed pepper, smoked oysters, spare ribs, beef rib, smoked bacon, cornbread, mac & cheese, and the banana pudding. Every single dish was subpar. I should have known better than ordering a beef rib knowing full well that nothing compares to the beef ribs I've had at a.tramp 's house, but on a scale of 1 to 10 theirs is a 2 while his is a 43.7. And if theirs couldn't have had more than 5 oz of meat on it. And a special fuck them for putting a smoked cookie on the banana pudding. You know what I don't need? Smoke flavor in my banana pudding you assholes. Food and drinks were $200 with tip. Thank God for expense reports.
I’ve only been to Fremont for a beer. Been to Belltown 3-4 times so I’m down to check out other places.
If your company is paying for meals, Manolin is a great seafood spot, a little pricey. Just 2-3 blocks north of Fremont Brewing
Thanks for input here. I've been on business all week here and it's been really helpful (especially since I don't trust Google reviews/Yelp/etc.)
I’m in your town for 24 hours. Staying downtown and likely going to Uber over to Cloudburst tonight. Any recs for dinner over there? I’ve been told to go to for sushi, Umi (I think I went here my first ever trip), I’ve been to Shiro. Any other sushi recs over there. I’m game for most anything, just can’t be that crazy priced.
This is probably the truest thing about Seattle I’ve ever heard. The town has good food from the land, but great from the sea. (One of the many things much different from Portland that 90% of the country wouldn’t know, it’s the polar opposite down here)
Can anyone help with a good restaurant rec? My GF and I will be there in 3 weeks. We're staying a few blocks northeast of Pike Place. Preferably a good seafood place with a good view and fun atmosphere. Dont need anything too fancy, just good food and fun place to be.
The new Old Stove Brewery location is awesome. Right behind Pikes and has an awesome view. Cloudburst brewery is right by there and they are a top 2 brewery in Seattle.
Thanks for the recs. Also is anyone familiar with Tolmie Peak? We are planning to go on a hike too but will it be too snowy on May 31 still? We def are going to call the park before going on the hike to make sure the conditions are ok. Or do you recommend any other hikes between Seattle and Portland?
Wta.org and AllTrails are what I always check for recent conditions. Look at the trip reports. What are you looking for in terms of length/elevation gain/difficulty? I can recommend some most likely.
Undoubtedly, you gotta go Six Seven at the Edgewater hotel. Great bourbon and wine list.....you won't find better salmon either.
