So far I have: 6" procomp long arm kit ladder bars Thuren Fox 2.5 remote reservoir shocks fuel pump/sending unit airdog 650 lift pump 4" MBRP turboback 2012+ steering rack/linkage retrofit 2013+ 1-ton steering box Carli upper/lower ball joints mag-hytec trans pan, oil pan, diff cover programmer full gauges And then some other miscellaneous bullshit like a stereo system/nav, a light bar (that I flush mounted in the front bumper) and AMP power retractable running boards.. really need to do some LED/HID headlights on it still, I drive the wife's x5 and realize I'm damn near blind by comparison in my truck. Definitely have done a few oddball goofy repairs that were Dodge-specific but really... I can't complain all that much. Everything that has broken has been replaced with an indestructible replacement and I'm slowly building a bomb-proof truck. After owning that B6 s4 Avant, everything seems tolerable price wise.. Stockholm Syndrome :suicide: I only wish that I had gone with a full Carli suspension and stuck with a smaller lift and 35's. BECAUSE IT'S A PAIN IN THE DICK TO PUT MY DIRT BIKE IN THIS BIG TALL FUCKER
Questions for the Ford guys. Ford transitioned the 5.4 L Triton V8 from a four-speed transmission to a six-speed around 2009 or so. Anyone have strong opinions on one versus the other? Also, seems like the biggest complaint against this engine is the spark plug thread issue and something with the cams.
LMAO you bastage.. you jinxed me! I took the fucking truck to the line up shop this morning and they said "yeah, come out here and look at your track bar.. we can't line it up until you replace that." "Hello, Carli? I've got another $520 for you, send it to the usual place." Pics.. I'll have to see what I have on my phone and post it as an attachment in mobile, I have no pictures of the old beast. It's definitely not flashy so I don't post pics, it has all the Cummins badges and stuff pulled off, most people probably think it's a half ton from a distance. Hell I even drive it around with the tow mirrors folded unless I'm towing! Hahaha
Nitto terra grapplers seem to be discussed a lot too. I’m all on road so I have no personal experience with them but I am considering the dura grappler when I put on a new set.
I’ve got nitto terra grappler A/T and I’ve got no complaints. They’re pretty quiet and I think I’m getting good life out of them with rotating them at every other oil change.
How you liking it? Going between a Tacoma and a GMC Canyon in the next year or so (heavily leaning towards Canyon atm).
Thinking about getting some wheel/tire take offs from a 2014 f150 lariat for my 2007 f150, anyone have any experience with pirelli scorpion tires? I'm reading mixed reviews.
Thinking about buying this beautiful ‘89. My buddy is selling this truck and I’ve been nostalgic af since he showed me. The wife has already given it her blessing. My Hs and college truck was a very similar ‘92. Some of my best memories were in that truck. 30yrs between these two. Spoiler My old Toyota I’m having another friend, a certified Toyota master mechanic, look at it next week and, if it checks out, I’m making an offer.
Also, those newer TRD wheels absolutely work, even with everything else about that vehicle being straight 90s.
I’ve been going back and forth on getting a truck. Looked at lots of new, slightly used, and very used options. Ultimately decided on a 4th gen 4runner to get 4wd and a V8. 2003 V8 awd, 150k No regrets, have had a lot of fun modding so far (found the sport wheels which I’ll be blacking out, removed the sidesteps, installed a leveling kit with 255/75r17 M/Ts, backup camera and CarPlay headunit...) Next weekend off will be debadging and plastidipping the wheels.
Wasn't going to buy it but still bummed to hear the Ranger Raptor isn't going to be offered in the USA. It should do well in other markets though. Edit: added upper case R to "anger"
I passed. After driving it around for a few days and the nostalgia wearing off a little, it wasn’t the right vehicle for me (wife and 4yo). It was fun reminiscing for a few days, though.
Been planning on getting a diesel Canyon but this new Ranger Lariat may be a solid contender with it's turbo 4 banger.
Tacomas are the modern day equivalent of the square body GMC/Chevy truck of the 70's and 80's. ubiquitous, useful, bombproof.
how is the power on that? I have a Ram with a hemi but am going to switch over to a F-150 eventually.
Its not bad, but I drive like Grandpa. I usually pull my side by side or john boat, and it's got plenty for that. Usually 17.5 average per tank mileage, which is a step up from my 2010 Silverado at 14mpg.
Lol. I rent a spot in a nice area, but the lot is at an old office building that doesn't have any tenants. There's a Whole Foods across the street
Any of y'all ever detailed your truck interior? I assume you'd need some type of wet vac to really clean the carpets, but what else?
I posted this in another thread but thought I would share with you fellas... The new Ford Ranger will be a good option for you small business owners out there, the GVW is over 6,000 making it eligible for section 179 depreciation for your taxes. I may be buying one for my small business this year.
I saw these all over Ireland when I was there this past summer. They look awesome. My only challenge is they seem too small for me. My daily driver is a GMC Sierra. I am not sure I can go back to driving a truck that small.
