Opinions on your mounted tool box? It's handy but I find needing the actual space more of an issue than needing whatever I keep in box. Thinking of buying a tool box I can lock in with a cable so it can be moved around when I need to reconfigure the bed when loading it up.
After getting stuck in mud at a boat ramp while trying to park my truck/trailer this past weekend, which is probably the 5th time since 2016 my Tacoma has gotten stuck, I might really have to get 4WD on my next truck. At least going to get some all terrains in the interim.
My friend got Nitto ridge grappler tires and a leveling kit for $1200 at a local place. Anyone ever had those tires?
Had Nitto A/T and they were a great all around tire. Driving on muddy deer camp roads, on the beach in soft sand, highway. I was going for BFG A/T (the goat tire) but the Nitto was significantly cheaper.
I don't think they will cure my issue of getting stuck in mud or in wet grass after a rain etc (no 4WD)but I might get stuck a little less often. Also my tires will spin out on the road after even a light rain . I think something with more grip will be a lot safer.
Yeah that's not normal. Love my stock Goodyear Wranglers with Kevlar. I'm at 80k Just ordered another set. And I never take it out of 2H. Outside of a few times during the winter when it snows.
What says the crowd on here, looking for something to play with... it does have the dreaded 6.0 but they say the motor had been built proofed. https://www.ebay.com/itm/154134162029
Shit I think the tranny fluid was almost $400 on my old GMC due to having to drop the pan and the exhaust being in the way. That’s not a bad price in my mind.
Seems like a high price for a 15yr old vehicle. I can tell you suspension parts are prone to failure and not cheap. It does look nice. Doubt they'd take $18k, but that's all I'd offer.
What is the difference in 2019 to.2021 Rams? Is the eco diesel worth it? I don't haul much if anything right now besides a kayak and may be getting a boat eventually.
probably right, what model was yours? The dealership quoted me $400 to do that on my 2015 GMC, but I’m gonna call AAMCO & see what they quote me
It was an 08. It’s apparently a two person job for that truck. Lift it up and pry the exhaust down to get the pan out once it’s unbolted. Fantastic of a fuck your design. I hear some shops can suck the fluid out through the dipstick but don’t quote me on that.
2019 was first year of the new model, so probably has more issues than the 2020 and 2021, which have worked out the kinks. I’ve got a 2020 and love it. I’d only get the diesel if you drive a LOT of highway miles and very little city/town driving. Otherwise get the v8 hemi. 5thgenrams message board is super helpful if you need any info
probably so, I’ve looked at mine before when I was changing the oil & I can probably get the pan off because the exhaust isn’t as close to it as the previous generation. I have an 8 speed though, so no transmission fluid dipstick for me (another dumbass idea brought to you by GM)
Ok probably gonna start shopping here soon now that my refi is done. Any must haves you can think off. I really like the green and patriot blue bit not too concerned about color as long as it's not that shitty blue or bright red.
I had nitto terra grappler g2’s that we’re good off-road but on wet roads they didn’t do to well. Also the road noise in the cabin from them got old. I’ve currently got hankook dynapro atm’s and they seem to be better all around than my g2’s were. Less wear/road noise/ better handling on/off road too/ and were cheaper by quite a bit.
I really like the multifunction tailgate and Ram boxes. Personal preference on those but both are really practical. 3.92 rear axle ratio if you want to sacrifice slightly worse gas mileage for better acceleration and towing power. 33 gallon tank is nice so you don’t have to fill up as often. I was really particular about what I wanted and couldn’t ever find it, so ended up doing a factory build. It took like 12 weeks but it’s nice having the exact truck I wanted. I spent a ton of time researching the 2020s so feel free to message me with any specific questions.
I love excursions and understand how hard it is to find a 7.3 4x4 one but I just wouldn’t put my money down on a 6.0 given their track record.
So the passenger side vents are only getting outside temps. From goggling it appears the blend door actuator is shot. Lovely. Going to have to get this fixed before it gets colder. Heating half the truck doesn't seem like a good idea.
Have any of y’all switched out your halogen low/high beams out for led bulbs? Seems like a nice upgrade for relatively cheap.
Yea I did it years ago. Went Les route instead of hid ballast installation and have been happy with the decision.
not yet but looking into it since I decided I’m gonna keep my Sierra for a couple more years at the minimum
I've been looking for the last couple days, there are so many. Seem to be a couple companies with prime day deals I'm tempted to jump on. I'm not sure if these will work for a Sierra, but maybe. $15 off with coupon.
I did it on my 08 Sierra and it was an improvement, nothing life changing, but I enjoyed the color change and the clear light. It wasn't much of a problem to install otherwise the changing regular bulbs, which if you know anything about the 07-09 GM trucks was a nightmare to change the headlights compared to what it should have been.
Yea I am not sure about the rams but it was such a pain in the ass, at one point Walmart offered to change them for like $10 or something and so I would take it there. They always bitched until finally I took it in and they refused to do it. Said it was too much work to get the bulbs changed. I think that was the point where I said screw it I am changing to the LED.
My '12 Silverado is a pain in the ass. Had to take out the passenger side fender well to reach up there to change out the passenger side. I remember my 98 sierra was so easy, pull up two clips and the assembly came out or it was my or it was my 01 ford, either way both of those were either 2 screws or 2 clips to remove now this bullshit the auto manufacturers pull is stupid.
yeah, I had to change the bulbs on my 07 once, that was an adventure...looks like it’s not much better on my 15
What tires do you guys recommend for a 2016 Tacoma? I just got a quote on the Nitto Grapplers for $1200 including a leveling kit out the door. Any other options I should look at?
I'd look around on some Tacoma forums for the best advice for your truck. Quick google search took me here: http://www.tacomaforum.com/threads/leveling-kit-wheel-and-tires.8856/
Depends on how much off-roading you do. If you don’t do much, I’d look at the Michelin Defenders...I have them on my Sierra & they’ve been rock solid so far.
So slight oversight by me not caring the right side of my truck can't get heat nor ac. When its foggy out the right side of the windshield fogs up too. Fun driving last night.
Yeah. I goggled the same thing. I work way too much to lose my truck for a day. So I hope it's not a big issue.
