I would love to get 19. My 08 gets 15 regularly.

I am pretty pleased with mine which is at 135k and have had it for 8 years. It's an 08 Sierra Denali.

I like the look at of the GM trucks. The Toyotas I am hearing good things about but I justness struggle to accept a truck from Toyota.

Either. I completely random with 87-91, I just try to always use 100% gasoline. No ethanol

My last 400mi, coincidently, was my best average at 20.9mpg. 300 of those were interstate driving at 75mph, the rest city.

    Love it

Must be nice being able to find stations without ethanol. I can't find ethanol free gas up here. When I was living in Alabama I was getting about 36mpg city. In ct I'm getting around 30mpg mostly highway and it's more expensive.

Have had F150s of both varieties and I definitely prefer the gear shift in the center. To each their own.

Nice. Really like the look of the GMCs... but what is this world coming to with no push button start?? On 2016/2017 vehicles??!

It's things like this that make the decision difficult for me. I definitely prefer the appearance of the sierras, but little things missing like this that other makers have had standard for years tells me that gm doesn't feel like they need to be competitive. Not having it even as an option is a fuck you to consumers by saying "we know you'll buy our truck even if it has less features."

Wi-Fi is great gm feature by GM. Not sure if any other truck has that yet

Is it satellite or cellular based? I guess I figured if I ever needed to use my laptop on the go, I could just turn my phone into a hotspot, but if there isn't any service then I could see a satellite based wifi as being useful.

It runs through cell towers. Admittedly, if you have hotspot capabilities on your phone then it would be sufficient most of the time (I say most bc the truck antennae is quite a bit stronger than phone so you've always got a better speed). I have ATT unlimited data and they won't let me hot spot with unlimited.

My reference to the gear shifter in the center vs steering column is strictly because of how much extra room there is on the center console in the GM vs Ford. It's like an 8" difference. No leather being shared between the arms of driver and passenger in the GM.

It is, indeed. A years ago, GM back seat leg room was 4" inferior to the F150. In 2015 the GM's re-did the back seat and now the F150 only has 1.5" more leg room, but still retained the 6" longer bed. Unless you're toting 6'4+ dudes in the back, there is plenty of room. (I'm 6'1 and have more than plenty of room if I sit behind my drivers seat).

Are most trucks(Tacoma specifically) set up where the owner can remove the tailgate?

I'm not sure about about my 2015 Chevy tailgate. I've never tried to remove it. I know on my last truck (2011 chevy) you just have to lower it to the angle then pull straight out

Tailgate talk reminds me of another great GM feature (that Ford didn't have when I was in the market in 2015). Tailgate assist being standard is great. Doesn't sound like much but you can just pull the handle and stand back and the tailgate will slowly drop whereas on the Fords, if you did that, they slam down.

Yes at least on the GM trucks. They have been running stories around Dallas bc thiefs are targeting trucks to steal their tailgate. Cops keep mentioning to make sure to lock the tailgate if you aren't using it.

I love this feature on mine.

Supposedly the GM trucks did a full refresh a couple years ago for their interior. You can get eh cruise assist but it was an upgrade. At least that was how the Yukons did it.

My buddy hates the lane assist where it shakes your ass if you weave out of a lane. I haven't seen a huge benefit to having it though. I would love Cruise assist though.

I keep my lane assist turned off bc there are a lot of times on the interestate that I don't use turn signals to switch lanes if there is no one around.

The driver assist is pretty nice though. Driver Assist puts multiple sensors in the front bumper that gives you 4 different warnings (just lights up on the dash, no beeps until you hit the red, which means you're within 6") of how close each is to an object (great for parking), and then while you're driving, the sensor behind the rear view mirror will let you know if the car in front of you is suddenly braking. It shakes seat, beeps, and puts a red light as a heads up display on the windshield.

I have a 2011 F-150. The light came on and the code I pulled was P0299, which is "turbo underboost". I took it to the mechanic and he said that it was a faulty left bank turbo.

It only happened that one time and hasn't happened since then (about a week ago). Is this something that will progressively get worse or is it something I can get by with?

It certainly wasn't a computer glitch. There was a distinct lack of power that triggered the code. However, it only happened once last week while I was taking my kids to daycare and it only happened one time that I tried to accelerate.

    Assuming this is an ecoboost.

You'll know when your turbo goes out, sounds like yours might be soon. Horrible gas mileage and real lack of power.

Also could be something with a bad seal on the turbo leaking oil into the exhaust.

When the turbos go out on our equipment at work there is a sudden loss of power and about 50% of the time it's followed by a fire. I wouldn't overlook it.

Most responses on F150 forums are as follows:

    4wd 285/70r17 non leveled
    4wd 285/75r17---295/75r17---315/70r17 leveled

I'd be hard pressed to think you could get away with 315 without doing some amount of trimming though.

It's all labor, sadly. Was curious about putting one on a grand Cherokee and was quoted $600. You'll also probably want to have an alignment doneforvam additional $90.

    $60 part
    $600 labor

Looking at preowned 4wd F150s, leaning towards '11 onward because of the 6spd transmission. In terms of reliability and long term durability, am I right in going for that paired with the 8cyl (rather than the turbo ecoboost)?

That ecoboost is pretty impressive. I test drove one while my truck was being serviced. I just traded my 2500 6.0 in for a 2017 F-250...I'm loving the diesel so far.

I bought an ecoboost about 6 weeks ago. While it certainly leaves a bit to be desired on the towing/HP front, you really can't beat averaging 21 MPG
