They should be railing on the entire machine of "conservative" america as being fascist and in open war with democracy and the rule of law.

lol naturally Incredibly grim to learn that Jeff Bezos and his wife, in addition to hanging out with the Trump family, are huge fans of The Free Press, and see it as the future of media. www.newyorker.com/magazine/202...— Don Moynihan (@donmoyn.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T01:49:07.636Z Oof John Legend *and* Hanks??? Smdh
Tom Hanks does form Covid in Australia but the e Australian government replaced him with a cyborg as to not upset the US.
Trump isn’t responsible for what he says, but democrats are responsible for whatever the most mentally ill person on twitter says
Wait until they find out the agency did warn people ahead of time!! Folks just couldn’t be bothered to care/pay attention. The missing piece of this viral post is that the Texas officials are lying and deflecting blame. The NWS, hobbled as it is, issued an accurate flood watch for Kerr County the evening before and accurate escalating warnings overnight as the flood was developing.— southpaw (@nycsouthpaw.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T12:28:57.182Z
I really don't think that message resonates. It is basically what they ran in the last election and it did not get ppl out to vote. It's too intellectual and you've got to remember we are dealing with mostly a bunch of dumb ppl. They mostly care about the price of eggs , they think foreigners are coming for their jobs , they think democrats care about helping other ppl instead of helping them , and I think the vast majority of voters that are showing up at the polls at least in the last presidential election are fatigued/angry/revolting against liberal politics and there was evidence of that in 2016 as well. I think Democrats have a tough path because if they go too liberal they alienate moderates and if they don't go liberal enough they alienate part of their base. I have no clue how they get college age folks out and their base to show up. You would have thought they would have showed up in 2024. On top of all that, Trump has been gaining ground since 2016 with black voters and hispanics which also seems counter intuitive. And it appears Trump is gaining even more ground with hispanic voters since 2024 https://www.newsweek.com/donald-trump-approval-rating-update-polls-hispanics-2094652 At the same time , in the 2024 election Biden was an absolute train wreck in a widely viewed presidential debate, they pulled him as a candidate, ran Kamala at the last minute and they still were a few points off from winning in many of the swing states. And they beat Trump in 2020.
Yeah, the State of Texas from the governor's office down to local officials fucked up big time and they're scrambling to blame the overworked and understaffed meteorologists at NWS who accurately forecasted that a disaster was looming
I should add that *decades* of "fuck you, stormwater management systems are for pussy democrats, I'll build a 10 acre parking lot here next to this 20 lane highway, it's my god given right as an American" are making climate change cloudbursts and tropical weather events 1,000x worse. All the wetlands that were paved over, all the stream and river channels that were straightened and lined with concrete with little concern for what happens when it rains more than it should... that's going to become a bigger and bigger problem in lots of areas.
Seriously how anyone takes anything at face value that an official from Texas has to say in response to another easily preventable disaster happening under their watch is beyond me
I’m late to the Merchant of Venice talk. We had a guy in my HS English class who got detention because our teacher overheard him tell the kid next to him, I got your pound of flesh right here, while grabbing his crotch. That’s my Merchant of Venice story.
our inadequate infrastructure and cheap building practices are arguably bigger contributors to skyrocketing losses/premiums than climate change
The difference recently vs in the past is that rapid intensification is now normal for end of September/early October storms which you usually expect in August.
the sister of the race science "academic" quoted by the New York Times in their shameless hit piece on Zohran Mamdani seems like a lovely person and is insisting her brother was never awarded his PhD and is just pretending to be a professional academic— Robert Evans (the Only Robert Evans) (@iwriteok.bsky.social) 2025-07-05T05:30:57.923Z
i drove around the neighborhood this morning and found a house with a trump branded set of mortars. at least the fireworks industry gives zero fucks about copyright so trump likely didnt make money off it
