First thought that comes to mind is I should block this thread. Don't think I have it in me to do this again
They flipping the house too? I slept for two hours and don’t have the will to figure this out on my own.
I've thought for a while that perhaps one of the reasons America is such an outlier among advanced nations in terms of things like social services and public infrastructure is because of a sort of shared superiority complex due to never having experienced a significant national humiliation. Countries like Japan and Germany and Korea and China have all been forced to look at themselves critically after experiencing widespread collapse and catastrophe, and I think it makes them less blindly nationalistic and more occupied with ensuring stability and quality of life. America may now be on a path to catastrophic national humiliation, which is very unfortunate, but probably long overdue.
Mormons are cult members, but decent people outside of that. Trump is a huge turnoff to decent people.
some hot takes - we’ve moved into shorter cycles where it is just going to be constant rebukes of whoever is in power. inflation and Biden’s unpopularity are why this red wave happened and absent systemic change that actually benefits normal people there will be a reciprocal wave and then another one etc - majority of the project 2025 stuff will never happen (what happens will still be bad) - assuming they get the trifecta they lose it in two years like last time
Your last point will undoubtedly be true. Dems will take the house and claw back a senate seat or two. This stuff is cyclical, even if the country is broken
no they’ll do the same shit the Dems do which is come up with reasons why they can’t do the things they promised their base and then spend their time taking care of rich people
I refuse to believe things will be so easy and straightforward. I think I just need to acknowledge that the thinktank of T-MB is generally wrong when it comes to national dem politicians.
trifectas are rare, even rarer are defending them during midterms, and in a world where Trump’s general idiocy dominates the national discourse again for two years there will be a backlash
They’re going to redistrict the shit out of the house to make sure they hang on to the majority. It’s insane to think they’ll just chill out two years and lose it.
They're gonna put power so far out of dem reach they'll never get it back what will soon be called "the old way" Elon's mind control machine came online, and only gets smarter by the minute. And now he gets to do whatever he wants with it. We're toast. Things are gonna have to collapse to like french revolution conditions for things to come back our way. Pnk$krt IV if you're reading this in the future as part of the revolution, great gramp$krt's really proud the work you and your friends are doing gbr nfm PS Ratt records under the floor boards in the farmhouse might be worth something by now if you need money to buy more laser guns or whatever
Im not saying this doesn't suck, and I'm not saying bad things won't happen. But I do remember in 2016 it was also the end of the world and everyone was expecting to die or lose their jobs etc etc. Breathe. Hope we keep the house, and hope a few grown ups keep him in line and just let him golf every day again. In the meantime just focus on you and yours, let the rest of these piles of shit out there deal with the consequences of their voting actions.
The media can clutch their pearls all they want but they wanted this and they are responsible for this. It’s not entirely or even mostly on them but it’s not even debatable
