Can someone explain to me how this works? How is being in a foreign country more prone to hacking than on US soil?
His entire 5 minutes were well done. Dems ended on a high note for sure. And that’s eating at Trump for sure.
Yeah, they'll probably try that anyway. He should just redact the hell out of it just see we can see all of these old idiots using emojis about killing people
Tom Cotton really threw a lifeline to Gabbard and Ratcliffe. After they answered every question from Dem senators saying that no classified information was discussed, saying that multiple times, Cotton did this for them with only like 3 or so Dem senators left; https://bsky.app/profile/nikkimcr.bsky.social/post/3ll7n5ktmvi27 They then used this framing when answering so as to not perjure themselves, but it only seemed to throw Hegseth and DoD under the bus.
“Intelligence community classified information” is a big tell. Those first two words are an unnecessary qualifier if there’s no classified information. Military operational plans are classified, but not “intelligence community classified information”
I am sorry for lawyering this but the term used by the relevant criminal statute is “information relating to the national defense” so they could theoretically go after him no matter what post hoc justification they try to apply to their fuck up.
The answers then turned to that any information that was shared was done by DoD, and that Hegseth has the ability to say what is classified and not. The Dem senators pounced on this and asked whether they were aware if and when Hegseth had declassified any information shared. Like I said, it’s all set up for Hegseth to be the first off and under the bus if Trump chooses it.
So this whole time the immigrants have been stealing our hard working 14 year olds jobs? What a bunch of assholes.
Maybe not. Could still be against CUI, or Controlled Unclassified Information, disclosure under DoD policy. https://bsky.app/profile/artcandee.bsky.social/post/3ll7mw37pf22v https://bsky.app/profile/jeromecylin.bsky.social/post/3ll7nrwbjrc22 Edit: I read your post wrong. The “he” is the reporter isn’t it? I interpreted it originally as Hegseth. Either way I’ll leave this showing it may not matter if it was declassified or not.
My boss just joked that Matt gaetz has been pushing an easing of child labor laws so that his prostitutes can spend the night.
It’s just a matter of time that a foreign adversary will kill ALOT of Americans on our own soil and it will be because of the utter incompetence of everyone in the Trump Administration. And that still won’t get enough people off the Trump train.
I think in the end the 1st amendment would protect him, but it would be a very expensive and time consuming process. All while the big law firms are scared to represent anyone going against the administration.
Should be interesting if this coverage breaks through enough that we get a call guy or if DT just pushes through with zero repercussions
White House releases outlandish statement blaming Biden for war text scandal The White House has released a bizarre statement calling out Democrats and their "media allies" for allegedly forgetting the results of the attack on Yemen. In a statement, U.S. President Donald Trump called out former President Joe Biden was seemingly responsible for the leak of the classified war texts. It began: "Democrats and their media allies have seemingly forgotten that President Donald J. Trump and his National Security team successfully killed terrorists who have targeted U.S. troops and disrupted the most consequential shipping routes in the world. "This is a coordinated effort to distract from the successful actions taken by President Trump and his administration to make America’s enemies pay and keep Americans safe. Spoiler The White House's statement comes as several key Trump officials have come under fire for disclosing plans for the Yemen military in a group chat that had the editor-in-chief of The Atlantic in it.© Reach Publishing Services Limited "The Biden Administration sat back as a band of pirates — with precision-guided, Iran-provided weaponry — exacted a toll system in one of the most important shipping lanes in the world. "In fact, since 2023, Houthi terrorists attacked U.S. Navy warships 174 times and attacked commercial shipping vessels 145 times — and as a result, 75% of U.S.-flagged shipping has been forced to navigate the southern coast of Africa rather than through the Suez Canal." The statement added that© AP The statement added that "Biden’s weakness invited these unacceptable attacks — while President Trump put these terrorists on notice." It further claimed that Biden had removed the Houthis from the list of Foreign Terrorist Organizations and that Trump immediately returned them to the list. Trump's statement also touts that Biden "allowed the Houthis to attack U.S. Navy ships and shut down commercial traffic through the Red Sea — responding in feckless, pinprick 'attacks'." "The Trump Administration’s actions to hold the Houthis accountable has been a massive success — and nothing can distract from that unrelenting action to keep Americans safe," the statement ended. According to Goldberg, he was added to the group by Waltz on March 15, which disclosed “precise information about weapons packages, targets, and timing," per The Independent. Goldberg further states that at 11:44 a.m. — just two hours before the first bombs started falling in the Middle Eastern Country —he received a message from Hegseth. It is currently unknown if there will be any repercussions over this breach of security.© Reach Publishing Services Limited In a statement issued by White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes, the entire conversation appeared to be legitimate. "At this time, the message thread that was reported appears to be authentic, and we are reviewing how an inadvertent number was added to the chain,” he said. Ironically, the incident happened one day after Gabbard went on a rant denouncing leaking information to journalists. "Our nation’s Intelligence Community must be focused on our national security mission," she wrote. "Politically motivated leaks undermine our national security and the trust of the American people, and will not be tolerated." Jeffrey Goldberg revealed Monday that he had been added to a group on the texting app Signal, which reportedly contained Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth, National Security Advisor Michael Waltz, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Vice President JD Vance, White House Chief of Staff Stephen Miller, and Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard.© AP Unfortunately, such leaks have become commonplace with no investigation or accountability," she continued. "That ends now. We know of and are aggressively pursuing recent leakers from within the Intelligence Community and will hold them accountable." "Any unauthorized release of classified information is a violation of the law and will be treated as such, " she stated. It is currently unknown if there will be any repercussions over this breach of security. It also raises questions about whether the officials violated the Espionage Act, which makes it illegal to mishandle national defense information.
*she's better than your current governor. Seems like a situation where a third party candidate appears and siphons votes from mostly the Democrats and California ends up with a MAGA governor.
I've long be in the "American getting glassed with all the right wingers trapped here before it happened" would improve the quality of life on this planet for everyone quickly
OK, TMB lawyers, is this a thing or BS? https://www.thelongmemo.com/p/every-student-loan-is-now-forgiven
I've been wrong before but I don't see this Signal/Atlantic story being anything that affects Trump or his admin. There's much worse things that didn't matter.
It's impossible to predict what sticks I do think the universal experience of emailing or adding the wrong person to a discussion helps it resonate with normies
I mean, if they keep digging their way into the "he's a liberal liar" hole, he'll have no reason not to. I don't know anything about the reporter but he seems a hell of a lot more measured and respectful of the military in his media appearances than the dipshits on the chat.
