I realize you’re making a joke post, but it’s absurd that Trump fans will want him to veto just because it continues to show him “fighting the swamp” regardless of the actual meaning of the bill or what his veto does.
I know you love Pete, as do I. But what realistic fears do you have about his sexuality in a mainstream election?? Part of me feels like fuck the right it doesn't matter, they aren't gonna vote anyways. Another part of me wants him in there just so the rights bigotry is further exposed bc there is zero chance they can't help themselves. But then to the voters... OK, fuck all the southern states bc we ain't gonna win them anyways. Gonna win the blue states anyways. Is it going to be a hindrance or a benefit or a moot point in the purple states? Lots to unpack. Probably some Similar comments pre Obama. Even Obama has commented that he was the first black president "too soon" or something along those lines... Which is just fucking awful. The bigotry and backlash towards Pete is going to be very gross
I agree with you. You just can't pretend this won't be a factor today, when we know it will matter to some. This is another reason why I think someone needs to fix Trump stuff first, and that includes the mindset. As we pull in more youthful voters who don't see sexuality as an issue, Pete will rise in prominence.
I say fuck it. let's go for it. I was sold on Mayor Pete after hearing on Stayed Tuned with Preet podcast. https://www.cafe.com/nadlers-requests-the-youngest-contender-with-pete-buttigieg/
Penn as some prestigious institution was always a good joke to me. They accepted and admitted kids who were barely in the top half of my public HS all the time.
I think in the end this will be what kneecaps him. It's absolutely insane, but I agree with what you're saying. It's going to be a major hurdle. I just think if anyone can jump it in 2020 it's him. I myself hesitated to buy a shirt that was Pete 2020 with a rainbow heart in the middle. They are now gone. Even me, an absolute ally, took pause because of the potential stigma. Another reason I think he would wreck Trump is because is strong as fuck in what he is, and Trump is a projecting piece of shit.
I’m just looking forward to what awful nickname Pete gets from Trump. I don’t think the mother fucker is above incorporating his sexuality into it and the lowest common denominators are going to feast on it. Ya know, because we need to expose more bigotry in America.
If Pete were more fabulous, then he would not have a chance. Obama showed that you can get straight white people to let their guards down by wearing dad jeans.
he has to make it far enough to get a nickname. If he does, I doubt he goes there explicitly. Maybe implicitly so he can deny it like he does with tons of insults and bullshit he tweets.
Weirton Steel used to be one of the largest integrated steel mills in the world, in Weirton, WV, along the Ohio River about 35 miles west of Pittsburgh. Most of its operations are closed, and last weekend, they detonated the Basic Oxygen Plant that was part of this complex. Residents were assured the demolition would not affect their homes. Now they’re in hotels after doors and windows were broken and a cloud of ash (containing who knows what) covered their neighborhoods. The explosion:
I'd put money on Trump using "mayor" as his dig, then referencing small things about him being gay, calling him weak, etc. Even that moron has people around him to tell him the "gay" nickname is bad plan.
Pete Puffer. Not because of the connotation, but because he puffs his chest out and talks loudly or something, will be their reasoning.
Imagine all the data showing Bernie is firmly in second place behind Biden and then just ignoring that data due to ur own personal bias
to be fair, there hasn't been great polling yet and I don't think it really matters until around and after the debates + fundraising has really kicked off
I can't disagree more. He has the most charisma of any candidate so far. There is a reason that someone who lost Texas is getting this much attention. He jumps off the screen when he speaks. When it comes to issues I suspect there will be little to differentiate between most of the candidates in the eyes of most voters. We live inside of reality tv right now.
That's your opinion. I have no idea how the debates will go and who will flourish. Who knows who will still be around come Summer.
right. People can chap NYgator/Dome Foam or whoever for his Biden and Beto take. That's just his opinion about how things will shake out. Beto performing poorly in debates is just as baseless as a take. Cane obviously dislikes Beto.
It just seems kind of pointless to state "that's an opinion" when someone freely says "this is my opinion."
The debate will be very kind to Beto, don’t forget that the media loves centrist/right wing policies and hates progressive policies. Any policy discussion that could potentially impact the fossil fuel industry will be met with extreme skepticism and bias.
Let me talk for a minute and a half and not say anything of consequence. This strategy worked in 2008 but it's not gonna work in 2020 imo. This basically comes off as "I am for good things and against bad things vote Beto 2020"
I like Beto and he will be fine in the debates, I simply think there are better candidates who will perform better.
There literally are plaintiffs’ attorneys already on the scene collecting samples of the dust to see what is in it.
but Trump, who speaks on a 4th grade level and never mentions real solutions to issues is our President. The majority of people don't want to think. They want to feel comfortable with a personality.
I think, and mostly hope, they'll learn from the republican primary and not shit all over and attack each other. Easier said than done, when they all agree on 80% of the issues and have policy differences on the rest.
I don't like John Kerry. I live George W. Bush. I'd like to have a beer with Bush me:fucking idiot! Bush doesn't drink and I want my leaders to be smarter than me
Yeah I don’t see any way it can be anything but worse. 2020 will have zero republicans saying bad things about Trump.
I know this is crazy talk but what if we don't mimic the strategy of the party that elected a reality tv star as president
