Democrats need to really push the messaging that Nancy had on offering money for legitimate, modern approaches to border security rather than a slush fund for a wall with no actually legitimate plan.

His sinking approval since the shutdown says otherwise. The longer they do this and have the better argument to reasonable people while he floats things like amnesty to get a deal, the more Pelosi lets him dig his own grave.
Luckily they are the minority. Trump's at 40% approval rn, his floor is probably 30%. He's gone from a net negative 7.5% approval to net negative 15.2% since the shutdown began.
Unless he ends up giving in (or even hinting at it enough to have the pundits turn on him) on something like amnesty and alienates the hardcore racists that have made up his base.
tbh its better for him politically if he does the emergency declaration, opens government, then courts stop it or he just caves fully and reopens if he gives anything that might actually get Dems to support it (dream act type legislation, Pelosis voting bill, etc), the right wing immigration crazies might not come back and its not turning any Dems.
