Ageist here, but can we stop pretending that old people past their cognitive primes should be leading our government? President Stable Genius, Joe Biden are clear examples. late 50s seems perfect, got experience, has connections, but young enough to not be a mush brain. in my own world, physicians in their late 60s and early 70s are frequently out of date, unreliable and/or definitely should not be making medical decisions, and I rarely see lawyers still practicing law well that late. Bernie seems sharp enough, and there are obvious exceptions to the rule, but I would honestly be ok with an age cap for all elected representatives. /rant over
This is true. My dad was a physician who was 1k times smarter than me & he lost a couple steps in his mid 60s during the last year or two he practiced. Fwiw, it may have been fatigue, or lack of motivation.
