btw he is live on twitter right now killing it about his book. This might be when he officially announces after his Iowa trip.
This reminds me of the Hillary hot sauce thing where people thought she was pandering. Then someone did a story going back decades showing that Hillary had a love of hot sauce and even often carried it in her purse. I'm not defending gillibrand here but it's not even necessary to jump to conclusions about something that unimportant.
FWIW him being banned from this thread had nothing to do with that bet and even if he paid he wouldn’t get unbanned from this thread.
am i correct in stating user tmbrules got permabanned and fsu dan had a melty of all melties as a result
I don’t like Democrats eating their own, but I hold Gillibrand responsible for removing one of the Democrats most effective weapons against Trump for what appeared as self-serving motivations. Her charge against Al Franken despite the iffy accusations/evidence aided republicans weaponizing accusations against Democrats to force resignations while Republicans circle the wagons against scandals. Franken would be one of the most effective weapons against Trump. Trump should be laughed at and ridiculed as the silly, cartoonish buffoon he is. Franken’s quips should be one of the most effective tools to exposing Trump to the public. We gotta stop letting conservatives dictate the rules/standards for Democrats while the GOP follows/ignores the rules only when beneficial. The hypocrisy is undeniable. Like stealing Garlands seat then refusing to hold Kavanaugh, an unabashed political operative, to the same precedent set by the GOP in previous administration for Kagan. Every document of Kagan’s needed to be reviewed from her time in the Clinton admin. None of Kavanaugh’s records from the GWB admin were reviewed. Zero. None of his shady past tied to smearing the Clintons was reviewed either. That’s before the partisan hearings where Kavanaugh indignantly perjured himself, promoted conspiracy theories, and demonstrated poor behavior/judgment unbecoming of a member of the highest court in the land/separate but equal branch of government. Or the GOP demanding Democrats return Weinstein donations while refusing to return Steve Wynn donations. Hell, Duncan Hunter ran successfully for re-election despite a corruption indictment. Many more examples exist.
Eh, I think Gillibrand genuinely cares a great deal about curbing sexual assault. And I don't think the missing piece for Democrats is someone making fun of Trump for being a stupid buffoon.
Franken bowing out as fast as he did without much of a fight gave me the impression that there might be more out there than what was made public
you really took that tweet and ran with it, miles and miles away I also largely disagree that the GOP being hypocrites requires Dems debasing themselves
Good thread. "Idle hands are the devil's workshop" is an incomplete aphorism. I'd amend that to "Idle hands and self-loathing are the devil's workshop." Bannon understood that with young, video-gaming incels. The KKK has understood that with young, white, rural males with dead-end prospects. Projecting others' self-hate is a big business, big politics, big internet.
I don't think Franken would have won the 2020 nomination, but there is no one else I'd rather see debate Donnie. Would have been glorious.
Avenatti, but again wouldn’t want to see him win the nomination to get there. Guy throws shade as well as anyone.
I’m not saying that it isn’t an important issue for her. It obviously is...but accusations against Franken were far from salacious especially in comparison to the Weinstein stuff coming out at the same time. Leading the charge against Franken despite the questionable allegations could have also damaged the “Me Too” movement legitimacy as the right pushed the narrative of hysterical women hellbent on taking down powerful men. I disagree 100% about the effectiveness of jokes mocking Trump especially w/the Trump base. IMO, it is the only way to discourage their support. They can’t be shamed, can’t be convinced w/facts, or any other traditional methods to turn opinion. Laughing at Trump (and by extension his supporters) is the best way to expose this clown show. Especially since the media continues to take his bullshit seriously for balancesake despite the facts. Outing the fool is the only way his supporters will leave the bandwagon willingly.
Debasing themselves how? I think it is debasing to get cowed into action based on disingenuous GOP protests fueling their false equivalence talking points.
He can’t see the air, therefore he should definitely stop breathing because he clearly doesn’t need the oxygen.
These are the people we need to reach to win the election Levine asks about the 70-percent marginal tax rate proposed by Warren that Schultz called ridiculous. “Yes, ridiculous, confiscatory, anti-growth,” Schmidt says. That prompts Levine to ask the question that evidently hits a nerve. “Will Derek Jeter or another athlete not hit another home run because they’re going to get taxed at 70? What’s the economic behavior that he thinks is anti-growth, other than his own pocket?” “This is bullshit,” Schmidt exclaims. “I’m not doing this.” “Steve, you’ve got to answer the questions,” Levine says. “I’m not,” and with that Schmidt slams down his headset and abruptly ends the interview. He threatened legal action against the studio if the interview airs, according to a source involved in the discussion. When his legal threat failed, he offered to buy the recording, according to the source. The studio refused.
every anti-trump gop'er wants to continue the pilfering they just want the racism to be toned down 10%
Yep. In fact, I’d be shocked if less than 50% of the never Trumpers ended up voting for him. They love the tax cuts, Wars, and judges. They just don’t like that he says the quiet parts loud.
walter jones died one of the few GOP'ers who seemed to genuinely believe in what he was doing, supporting veterans issues, basically ended his career advancement by crossing the Bush admin on Iraq, supported minimum wage, wanted Trumps taxes, etc. country could use lots more of his type
