My guess is his justification will be that trump is in his first term, whereas Obama was a lame duck.
I still maintain that a massive government loan to buy old factories to start manufacturers for carbon-neutral or even carbon-negative emission construction equipment, regional construction companies w/ pod-like reach to repair infrastructure, and massive solar and wind investment would be an economic revolution. All the bew companies would be employee-owned. You’ve created new wealth along with high-paying jobs, taken a short-term hit with loans that will be repaid, and can make a lot of it up through taxes. Using groups such as SCORE to provide the business financial education to these new business owners will be a great use of knowledge. Sustainable, competitive exporters, along with a focus on repairing critical infrastructure, all with an eye towards environmental sustainability.
The idea that Thomas would step down now to allow a conservative replacement who will have 20-40 years on the bench is a deoressing thought too
You aren’t looking forward to Kavanaugh, Gorsuch, Alito plus two for the rest of your days? What’s depressing about that?
I have a bit of an issue using kids as props like this. Diane didn't come off well though and being in the game so long its kinda surprising
True enemy of the people. Kid is amazing. She also did a murder story when she was 9 or 10 and is covering the wall as well.
Interesting video on her newspaper site. I’m very conflicted. I really am starting to hate white men. The second guy is amazing. Doesn’t think there is an issue but he supports the wall.
True, but there is a legit point of view that accounts for social, political, economic and technological realities. Some of us critiquing the GND aren’t saying nothing should be done, but rather that is has virtually zero chance of being enacted into law and policy. Also, it doesn’t go far enough to decarbonize emissions by 2030. We need a moonshot or WWII type of mobilization if we want to have a viable biosphere in the long term, but we don’t have the appetite for what it requires (yet).
breaking news. I have finally hit the wall with this feinstein story. don’t give one shit about watching the video.
I realize you have a limited cognitive frame and are easily duped by conspiracy theories, but try reading my post again. We are way past the time for action, the GND is not enough. It’s a set of half measures. I’m simply commenting on current realities: we as a country and global community are unwilling to grasp and move to action on what is needed to maintain a viable biosphere.
The ClintonKaine incrementalism that you mentioned resulted in a +3 million popular vote victory margin. It’s what we the people wanted.
Speaking of a limited cognitive framing... Now imagine how many more votes, in more toss up states the democrats would have gotten with even more popular positions to the left of that incremental center.
Yeah but it also resulted in one big fat L so maybe it’s not what the people wanted, it’s just a little less of what they didn’t want
Then you also need to consider votes that would have been lost from people turned off by overly left positions.
Unless we're completely disregarding polling, the data suggests the loss of votes would be overwhelmingly compensated by votes gained.
Clinton beat Sanders by 3.6M and Trump by 3M, but what the people really wanted was not what the math indicated. Got it.
GOP likes forcing public servants to be forced out of doing the work into the private sector and having relative novices in important positions. Just one of those nice ways to break democracy.
Sure. None of her constituents would get any of those jobs, besides garbage near-abusive minimum wage jobs. Within years, they would be forced out by a cost of living increase that would be unsustainable and that would be the end of that.
