This bill is going down IMO. They push it too far one way, they lose the support on the other side. It's almost entertaining.
I'm aware, reality is they just want to repeal Obamacare and get rid of the additional tax to wealthy people, but once people experience the benefits of having healthcare there is no going back even if idiots voted to go backwards. The only fix to Obamacare is to add a single payer option, which the democrats must do a better job of pushing for.
7 years of saying how bad supreme pizza is and how youre going to get rid of the olives, peppers, and mushrooms as soon as possible. It's now possible and you're unsure if you really hate olives, pepper, or mushrooms, so you decide to also leave out the sauce too. Because you promised your friends to make pizza great again. Now you're on the phone with a national pizza chain thats actually open 24/7, but you MUST complete your order in the next 30 seconds. Ya know, before they close for the day. But you and your friends can't decide what you want on your pizza. So you order a supreme....as is. Because supreme pizza is actually better than any pizza without the essential ingredient. Sauce.
Maybe discussed in the last thread, but what the fuck even happens if this Trump-Russia thing comes up daisies for us? No way Pence is in, I mean the whole campaign is sort of indigted. Paul Ryan in? That would be absolutely horrible, but less absolutely horrible I suppose.
I don't think it matters...if the administration goes down in a conflagration of treason the party is more toothless than it already is.
Apparently the HFC won't budge unless preexisting conditions are removed from the bill. That's truly insane on so many levels
They are neutered because they must provide their masters a tax cut but taking away people's insurance is difficult to spin away.
The fucked up part about it is that the winning strategy on their part is to actually practice what they preach. If you act like you want less government, actually follow through with it. Remove Obamacare altogether and don't put a half assed version of it back into place. It's callous, but that's the fucking political philosophy they've chosen. They want government to function as protection for people and to facilitate infrastructure. So get rid of everything that doesn't accomplish those tasks if that's what you actually fucking believe. Lower taxes and actually cut spending a substantial amount, which includes the ridiculously bloated military. This will break our economy, but at least it's the ethos that you've espoused. Give it a try so everyone can understand exactly how fucking dumb the philosophy is in real life.
Shove it on Mitch McConnel's plate and blame him when it doesn't pass then position himself within the GOP by moving on to other agendas like tax cuts for the rich instead of being forced to deal with Healthcare for the next 3 years.
The fatal flaw in your view is that you think they have a philosophy...their only "philosophy" is having their cake and eating it too.
Totally. But I don't think means we go to war cuz no one wants to go to war with Russia. So we probably rub our sore asses and say "don't!" Sanction the fuck outta them. Push alternative energy agenda to full throttle and strangle their oil based economy.
Now republicans are gonna get to continue playing the fucking victim card. Their philosophy is supposedly to get the government out of the way. They should actually give it a try, including getting rid of all the oil and gas subsidies.
So right now on McConnell's plate he has resorting to the nuclear option to get Gorsuch through and potentially coming to terms with the healthcare bill dying in the senate. Have fun!
Fuck McConnell. You think he gives a fuck about using the nuclear option? He self proclaimed that his proudest achievment of his life was blocking Garland and taking a big fat liquidy shit all over the constitution in the process.
They are the dog that caught the car. They've spent the last 7 years bitching and obstructing. They have no idea how to govern.
Probably. But so was the march on the Black Gate by the combined forces of Rohan and Gondor in Return of the King.
heard somebody asked Boner about it and he just sort of smiled and said they could never agree on a plan to even present
Nothing wrong with postponing a life time appointment made by a president being investigated by the FBI, right?
That is what they said before the battle of Thermopylae in 300. No wait, bad example. That's what they said before those airborne troops fought to hold the bridge in Saving Private Ryan.
I see it as piling on to an already vulnerable majority. You force R's to kill the rule that requires at least a minor amount of bipartisan support at a time when they are also rushing to completely fuck over the healthcare system with no support from anyone. I like it a lot.
That's what I never understand about Reps. If you really want to hurt Russia, ISIS etc you need to push green energy hard. Nothing we can do to Russia would be worse than sustained oil prices of <$40
It's beyond that. They have adopted a philosophy that government is bad. The existence of federal government beyond the military - even a federal government they control - is bad for America. They can't govern because they have convinced their voters that governance is a bad thing. The have been sent to Washington to do nothing.
I hope I'm not being optimistic but I don't see Republicans fairing well in 2018 or 2020 with how these three months have gone. Best to weaken their ability to be fucksticks when they swing back to the minority.
Idk I thought it was kinda tasteless and showy that he displayed the tactless partisanship to type out two pages instead of breaking it down into 9 bullet points.
More than anything, their animating feature is their desire to serve their donor class, which has a fuckload of O&G money in it.
Yes, I miss the good old days as well, having a president that was not an embarrassment internationally was a tremendous luxury.
That doesn't mean you shouldn't make it difficult on them or require them to expend 0 political capital to get it done. They stole the seat by completely abdicating their constitutional duties and then laughed about it. That shouldn't earn instant capitulation from dems
