I audit nursing home operators, every now and then. The payor mix for your typical nursing home is usually around 40% Medicare, 20-50% Medicaid (or Managed Medicaid) 15-30% Commercial (private health insurance, not Managed Care/Caid), 10-25% Workerscomp, Self Pay, Union, etc... There’s a 60 to 90% chance we or the residents of Iowa are paying for this lady’s healthcare and she’s not concerned with who’s paying for it now.

The worst is my one cousin who looks like a dime store duck dynasty character and constantly bitches about welfare when he has 7 kids does not pay child support to his ex and lives whit his second family at my aunt's house. My immediate family are fine, but there are a couple of distant redneck yokel cousins from Oklahoma that I didnt invite to my wedding bc i know they were low key racist. Didn't want to tempt fate if they were drinking. Plus i only ever saw them at funerals. My wife is half asian/half greek, one groomsman was Jewish, lead usher was black, another groomsman's wife was Venezuelan. Best man's gf was Ukrainian. Wife's Uncle by marriage is Bolivian and so on. It was like a UN delegation and that was asking for trouble if cousin's started drinking.

My parents moved into a lily white old person neighborhood, the neighbors are now a Jamaican-Lithuanian couple and a Mexican-Iranian couple, and my buddy from high school who's white as shir but has a garage that is always open and fridge full of beer. Nah leave it there Growing up my dad's racism would show through every once in awhile. My uncle a lot. My brother who is also a cop got way worse after he became a cop. A couple years back I got sick and tired of it and started calling them out for the shit they would say. I told my Mom recently if I'm around and someone drops an N bomb I will tell them how much a racist piece of shit they are and promptly leave. I have a young son and I'll be damned if any of that kind of shit is said around him.
It's just kind of tough to read this when me and many others really struggle on what to do with extended and immediate family who have some horrible views (although they aren't dropping n-bombs). I'm getting close to just figuring out if we can move overseas, my wife is at odds with me because we specifically moved closer to my side of the family and then Trump got elected, my daughter was born, and everyone is okay with being an open bigot. I struggle everyday with what to do, do I just never let my daughter see her cousins again because my brother and his wife are probably the worst in their racist beliefs. Just gets tiring to see people talk about how their family isn't as awful as some of ours, even though that's my own issue.
