I’ve found him grotesque and in contradiction to everything I find good, decent, and likable for as long as I can remember but we all see things through our own lens I suppose.
Unless you're like 22, I find it dubious that you had such strong negative opinions about him "as long as [you] can remember."
FYI: slow burn is an amazing podcast about watergate and it is crazy how much it applies to today’s political climate. Mae Brussell = Alex Jones
He's been a national joke for 2.5 decades, and was certainly distasteful before that. I'm in my forties and have had a strong negative opinion of him since I was a teen. He's distasteful and he's always been distasteful.
Sure. He was a running joke, but "grotesque and in contradiction to everything I find good, decent, and likable?"
How so? By saying that I wouldn't have any issue with an investigation into people just because they fit my agenda and/or supported my beliefs? Or was it when I offered an explanation for how/why Trump has been able to have so many relationships with beautiful women? If I was playing devil's advocate, you'd know.
I'm 29 and tbh I didn't think much of Trump beyond him seeming like a loudmouthed idiot. The revelation that he will do pretty much anything to avoid the confrontation involved with firing someone is pretty damn funny considering that he starred in a reality show about him firing people.
My impressions of Trump pre-Apprentice were that he bankrupted the USFL and that he gave Macaulay Culkin directions at the Plaza Hotel in Home Alone 2.
this dude is going to turn in a heartbeat. apparently cohen thought trump winning the presidency meant he'd get some high level position in washington but trump left him behind in new york and he was not pleased.
I absolutely despise the guy. He's obviously always been a terrible person. It was always apparent that he was a loudmouthed idiot. But, his racist/fascist/populist schtick is a recent development (at least in public). Before he got into politics and started spewing hate, it was at least somewhat humorous.
religious too. how dumb can people be to believe that donald trump is really a christian? maybe they just see his power and don't care.
I legitimately questioned if his campaign was performance art at the outset. Wishful thinking, I suppose.
did you guys hear that mike pence's wife and daughter wrote a book about a bunny named marlon bundo, which is humorous because he's named after the openly bisexual actor marlon brando?
I'm fine with that description for Trump. He was always an obnoxious, attention-seeking, stereotypical NY blowhole, and he was around enough that anybody could have held that opinion for 20 years by the time he ran for president. If you were a USFL fan who read Sports Illustrated religiously and watched SNL, that feeling could easily stretch back into the 80s. Doonesbury was making fun of him in the 80s. He's polarizing and was unlikable long before he got into politics. I'm not sure why anybody would have ever liked him, to be honest. He's always been repugnant.
I'm 31and I just remember my dad making fun of him relentlessly for bankrupting 2 casinos in the 90s. "How in the Sam Hill can you bankrupt not one, but two casinos?" - paraphrasing papastockings
Still haven't received my copy of Oliver's betterbundobook. Amazon sent me a query a few days ago asking me if I still wanted it, since they were taking so much time to get it to me, and I was like HELL YES
everyone knows that golf has some magical power that allows important people to cut deals while playing
I read Art of the Deal when it came out and was a regular at Taj Mahal in the 90s. Never really thought much of him as a businessman or human being.
Freedom. Texas style! lMatt Schaefer @RepMattSchaefer Liberty loving conservative, Tx House Dist. 6 FREEDOM.Texas Style.
The art of the deal w Trump is probably just letting him win on the course so he's smuggy and agreeable to anything. Then you just get whatever you want
Love that he can collect money directly from a foreign government by hosting bullshit at his property and no one bats an eye
I love how Trump's breeding comment is no big deal in today's news cycle with such a gdamn idiot running the show.
I see Schaefer proudly trumpets that he's a Christian. Ah, yes, I seem to remember that it's the book of Matthew where Jesus chooses not to feed the hungry with fish and bread but instead tells them to go get a job.
