Fired racist demands unemployment because Trump made hate speech okay By Bil Browning · Friday, August 17, 2018 Despite the administration’s denials that Donald Trump is blatantly racist, the rest of the country hears him loud and clear. Even worse, many of his supporters have started emulating him. We’ve seen neo-Nazis rally in the street, an increase in hate crimes, and white people across the country verbally assaulting people of color regularly. So is it any surprise that some folks feel emboldened to freely express racist insults like their mentor? Angela Diers, an Iowa woman who was fired for loudly telling her co-workers that she hated “f–king Mexicans,” is fighting for unemployment benefits, claiming that Trump’s election has made hate speech okay in the workplace. Spoiler Diers argued that after the election, it became common for factory workers to disparage minority groups. She feels she was unfairly singled out while others weren’t displicined. “We talk about everything out on the floor — whether it’s the president or the vice president,” Diers testified at her unemployment hearing. “There has been talk on the floor: Some people don’t like blacks, certain people don’t like Mexicans, certain people don’t like foreigners. We talk, and then we just move on.” And she was able to convince an administrative law judge to rule in her favor. “Since President Trump’s election, it was common for workers to talk about hating blacks or hating foreigners,” the judge wrote in her ruling. “If management wishes all workers to be treated with respect, it must enforce respectful treatment amongst co-workers and supervisors, and apply those expectations consistently throughout the chain of command.” Diers’ former employer, commercial washer and dryer manufacturer Dexter Laundry, appealed the ruling and Iowa’s Employment Appeals Board overturned the judge’s decision. This would disqualify her from receiving benefits. The board said that her “comments fell squarely within the type of behavior the employer’s work rules specifically prohibit. Her clarification that she only meant ‘illegal’ Mexicans does not absolve her of culpability.” Still, Diers insists she will continue her fight. She plans to appeal the decision to district court.

Plaquemines deputy tied to far-right group Proud Boys has been fired by sheriff's office Spoiler BY RAMON ANTONIO VARGAS | [email protected] Published Aug 16, 2018 at 5:19 pm | Updated Aug 16, 2018 at 6:43 pm (…) The Plaquemines Parish Sheriff's Office on Thursday fired a deputy recently linked to the far-right group called the Proud Boys, saying that the organization's values are contradictory to those of the law enforcement agency. The deputy, Brian Green, also violated an internal policy prohibiting employees from engaging in social media activity "that negatively affects the public perception" of the agency, the Sheriff's Office said. A furor erupted on social media earlier this month when people noticed that Green described himself as a member of the Proud Boys and was an administrator of the Facebook page for the group's local chapter. The Southern Poverty Law Center, which tracks right-wing organizations, characterizes the Proud Boys' views as anti-woman and anti-Muslim. Vice Media co-founder Gavin McInnes established the group during Donald Trump's victorious 2016 presidential campaign. The group dismisses the SPLC's characterization of it as false. Denying ties to the so-called "alt-right," Proud Boys leaders say they consider themselves a fraternity standing in opposition to "white guilt" and political correctness. In one video online, Green shares some of his beliefs, saying, "I'm a proud Western chauvinist who refuses to apologize for creating the modern world." Green was working as a patrol deputy at the Sheriff's Office when someone contacted the agency on Facebook and complained about his ties to the Proud Boys on Aug. 8. Sheriff Gerald Turlich said then he would ask the feds to help his office investigate whether the Proud Boys are "a hate or supremacy group," and Green was placed on indefinite paid leave. Last week, the social media platform Twitter suspended the accounts of both McInnes and the Proud Boys, saying they had violated the company's anti-extremism standards. Turlich stopped short of calling the Proud Boys a hate group in announcing Green's termination on Thursday. But the sheriff said Green's decision to promote his ties to the Proud Boys on at least one social media page showing him in his agency uniform had "inevitably affected the public trust bestowed upon him" and the Sheriff's Office. "Green's decision to utilize the ... uniform to promote the views of the Proud Boys, whose values are contradictory to the values and the vision of the (Sheriff's Office), will not be tolerated," Turlich said in a statement. He added that the office "does not support the organization or its ideals, and law enforcement in general has an obligation to treat all people equally, fairly and impartially." Turlich did note that Green, a five-year veteran, had not previously been disciplined or been the target of any public complaints. But, he said, aside from avoiding social media activity that negatively affects the agency's image, Sheriff's Office employees are also expected to refrain from speech "that would reasonably be considered reckless or irresponsible." Activists and some segments of the news media have sought to expose members of organizations that are accused of being hate groups, particularly those who work for government agencies. Recent reporting by ProPublica and Frontline identified a U.S. Marine and an employee of the defense contractor Northrop Grumman as having participated in last year's rally of white supremacists in Charlottesville, Virginia, which turned deadly. Vasillios Pistolis was later ordered at a court-martial to spend four weeks in prison and was kicked out of the Marine Corps. Michael Miselis soon left Northrop Grumman. Also, last month, the Clark County, Washington, Sheriff's Office fired Erin Willey as a deputy after she was photographed wearing a hooded Proud Boys sweatshirt. A few days after that, the Proud Boys were again the subject of unflattering news stories when members of the group, along with those of the right-wing Patriot Prayer organization, clashed with left-wing "antifa" protesters in the streets of Portland, Oregon. Legally, government employees do not relinquish their rights to free speech, but they are not necessarily protected if they express views that are seen as undermining their employers' operations or trustworthiness, according to Lexipol, which offers consulting services to public safety agencies. In Louisiana, sheriff's deputies serve on an at-will basis, meaning the sheriff can fire them at any time. As Green's story gained attention, a message on a Facebook page dubbed "Proud Boys Louisiana" accused the SPLC of wrongful accusations and threatened to sue "anyone caught going after someone's employment or business." Attempts to contact Green weren't immediately successful Thursday.
Imagine being so beholden to Trump that you're willing to accuse Jefferson Beauregard Sessions III, a 20-year Republican Senator from the Great State of Alabama, of being a "fake Republican" because he isn't sending Obama, Clinton, Comey, Strzok, and Lynch to jail.
And while her movies don't feature Justin Guarini They have been much better than from Justin to Kelly.
Even if he gets off in VA, I have much higher expectations for the next jury in DC. He’s also 69 so even if they just get him on a few counts, he’s going to be old AF when/if he ever gets out. My only concern is if he is acquitted of a decent number of charges, the orange Tramp will just use it as further evidence of the WITCH HUNT!!!
Seeing all these #resistance chodes rallying around the fucking FBI and CIA is so fucking frustrating
Uh if one party believed that the intel and law enforcement community was wholly corrupt and nefarious, they would systematically dismantle it over decades. That’s not to say there are never any bad actors, because they are run by humans. The fact that career govt, law and military people that have served under R and D admins come out to defend people and decry the actions of a president with long and documented history of lying and doing business with criminals should be a clue that maybe what trump is doing ain’t on the level. Or maybe both sides equally bad. And gee golly politics these days are so one sided I just wish someone could rub my shoulders and tell me not ALL of my opinions suck.
I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but if you think I'm somehow defending Trump, then you're obviously not familiar with my post history...
You’re right, I’m not familiar offhand. How do you mean it when you see someone pushing an article about ex agents defending the CIA and saying political loyalty is a bad litmus test?
