The US force weren’t in Syria to deter an attack from Turkey, although that was a nice side benefit to our assistance of a minority group that had been carrying our water against ISIS and Saddam before that for decades so that they could not be exterminated. They were there to help said group fight the remnants of ISIS, which despite claims to the contrary by Trump, is still very much a thing. The Kurds were left holding onto thousands of these assholes - partly because their home countries, including the United States, wanted no part of prosecuting them - and now those thousands of assholes are free again. Without even getting into the humanitarian aspects of what is and is about to happen, that’s a complete fucking disaster and there is literally no good argument to the contrary if you have any understanding of what ISIS was doing in Syria. and all for a goddamn dictator in exchange for selling a few hotel rooms

Us leaving any of the endless conflicts we are engaged in will result in death... lots of death. If we can’t stomach that than we’ve committed to endless war and that IMO shouldn’t be part of our foreign policy.
For the record I don’t support the war on ISIS, nor do I believe we can defeat isis with troops. It’s an endless conflict that has further destabilized the region, and fed the “need” for our continued presence.
