Novemeber 2020 is going to be tight as hell, again, and Trump/GOP won't go down without suppression tactics, cheating, enabling trolls, etc.. Time to focus our energy on the next 9 months
Karl Rove - permanent conservative majority GOP loses the Senate in 2006 Obama - Senate super majority Dems lose the Senate in 2014 Clutching pearls - THE DEMS MAY NEVER HAVE THE SENATE AGAIN!!!! Almost as dumb as this from 2014 Rep. Greg Walden of Oregon, the chairman of the National Republican Congressional Committee, proclaimed Wednesday that Republicans may have built a “hundred-year majority” in the House. “We’re as back to a majority as any of us have seen in our lifetimes. It may be a hundred-year majority,” he said.
That’s a possible scenario but that’s still ~10 years out and is not a guarantee. The republicans have a very high floor for seats they will hold in the senate which is what puts probability on their side.
NC and Arizona are trending blue and Colorado and Virginia are almost safely blue now. My bet is GOP keep the Senate if Trump wins in 2020 they lose the Senate in 2022
I have a silver lining hot take... My modest 401k has gotten 20-51% returns since Trumps been in office. I pray to my atheist God that Boomers are seeing this as the high point of the market, hit their number and plan their retirement dates prior to the election. Gen x, millenials and zoomers all see a surge in promotions and job openings to fill the job market and we all start better, higher paying jobs under the Bernie/Warren Presidency in 2020. Take my energy....
You’re not wrong. I’m simply saying it’s the grimmest of realizations. Odds wise, for the near future, aren’t great. 2018 turnout has me hopeful for 2020, but I have no clue beyond that. If trump is gone, keeping the base that was built up and turned out won’t be easy.
2018's wave is even more incredible in the context of the gerrymandered to hell Congressional districts. Need 2020 to be even greater, obvi
It is gonna be close. Just like last time. we don’t even know who the nominee will be. I know he is the betting favorite, but all it takes is turnout in a few states. He is wildly unpopular
Its hard to take anyone seriously that predicts doom and gloom when it comes to politics because its been predicted every 2 or 3 election cycles for the past 100 years. The pendulum swings, it will swing again. If anything all of these people migrating from blue states to red states makes it more likely some GOP strongholds flip.
"it's hard to take anyone seriously who predicts doom and gloom" he said unironically as Donald Trump was president
After I move to GA this spring I'll be ready to vote several times every single race to turn the state blue
let it drag on. bernie and liz have enough of a ground game and surrogates to be fine in iowa regardless. interrupt trump's stupid victory speech
As shitty of a person and president as Donald Trump is, he doesn't hold a candle to the fucking destruction George W Bush wrought.
Hopefully the stress of all this has pushed that fatboys heart to the verge of quitting At this point they could just replace him with racist twitter bot and nothing would change
Cant imagine the shit Trump and his cronies will get away with after beating an impeachment and winning again in 2020.
Steyer being semi-progressive hopefully means he will throw lots of money behind a progressive candidate after they win the nom
Or if we went back to letting State Houses select the Senators so they'd actually carry out the will of the people and not the just be based off the R or D after their name or face being recalled.
Not just that, but hopefully running general ads about how Republicans suck and are against democracy all across the country.
"hey Chet where did you go skiing last year? Oh we went to Big Sky in North Florida. The state sucked but the skiing is still great."
