They’re using Trump as the fall guy when in reality the reason we are where we are is because of people like the ones who are running the Lincoln Project and the policies that they support. They want to spend money to attack Trump, Mitch and other republicans, great, but people need to remember who those people really are and what they are about.

Post-Trump there should be a leftist party and a moderate party, the republicans should cease to exist. Their former coalition should be voiceless because it is what they deserve. Their ideas are outdated and reprehensible, and they are willing to destroy the USA in order to support them.

The only reason I don't buy it is that the polling wasn't really wrong in 2016. They has Clinton +2.5/3. They missed those three swing states, but if they were manipulating votes, why not have Trump won by a larger margin? I get people are worried, so am I, but part of what Russia would need as much a Trump is full control of Congress, son why not interfere in 2018?
I guess an argument could be made that just getting enough kept it believable. OTOH, doing it in a way that was very hard to believe could spark a civil war. Which they would probably enjoy.
modern GOP is in its death throes. voting bloc grows younger, country is moving left daily, and white people are decreasing in numbers as POC increase. they will have to retool entirely to lure in minority voters if they want to continue going forward and part of that will include a return to the center for them. the Tea Party started it and Trump finished it but the GOP as we grew up knowing it is dead in the water.
That's the scariest thing about the Lincoln Project people. They seem to be the only ones that get that the party needs a full reset. I dont think their play is to get involved with Biden's administration, but try to be a more affable centrist GOP and pick off centrist Dems worried the party is moving too far left. They are more evil than Trumpism in some ways because the ideology is pretty much the same but they are trying to put themselves in a positive light while wanting the same shitty things. They are giving up their pawn because they're the only ones capable of seeing the big picture.
Look for the definition of what “white” is to expand as the number of “white people” grow smaller and the number of PoC grow larger. Also I think you’re underestimating the GOP and their ability to sustain success. After 2008 the GOP was written off as dead given the state of the economy and the disastrous foreign policies and yet in 2016 all of that was forgotten and the GOP was able to obtain control of all 3 branches of government.
Yep, that’s what happened with the Irish and Italians. I’m guessing there’s a Latino outreach based on letting them be “white”.
there is a huge difference between them and Latinos and that is continuous migration. The flow from Ireland and Italy slowed that is not the case with Latinx people.
I would include Jewish people in the same group as Italians and Irish. Latinos, East Asians are in the group of people that are likely to be adopted as “white”.
they're essentially at the point where they have to cheat to survive, that's a pretty good indication they're CTD. they don't gerrymander just because, they gerrymander because if they don't they lose, Virginia is a classic example of this in action. Latinos will be their obvious minority target but I question their ability to succeed, at least enough to make a difference, under current party structure and heading. don't underestimate the effect Millennials getting their own politicians will have on things going forward. Silents are essentially done and Boomers are heading out the door. rising young stars will be able to mobilize the now biggest voting bloc and give the left massive potential for years to come. being able to get some of "ours" in there to make a difference rather than looking to geezers we cannot identify with will matter to a ton of voters. also, I just tend to feel like Millennials finally awoke to the notion that if we want change we will have to pry it from Boomers hands rather than just waiting out their inevitable death. I've always said that Trump's lasting legacy will be energizing millions of younger people into becoming politically active and that's a bad sign for the GOP.

Latinx people wouldn’t be the constant immigration will not allow that moreover maybe not as much as black people but they won’t ever completely look “white”. Hopefully that’s not an issue because the nation becomes less white looking and more mixed.
It wouldn’t be beyond Republicans to draw an arbitrary, hypocritical line strictly for self-interest.
I don’t think Latinos as a whole will be embraced as white, Latinos as a group are too diverse for that to happen, but just like Cubans embraced the GOP there will be other groups of Latinos that will embrace the GOP as well, likely 2nd and 3rd generation Latinos.

Right, there’s white Hispanics, black Hispanics, Asian Hispanics, etc. But Republicans certainly don’t make that distinction now.
don’t disagree with this and maybe I am “arguing” something different than you and Blu Tang Clan . I meant the acceptance of being white like Italians and the Irish. I mean my kids are mixed and most of their Latino friends never completely “accepted” that they are Latino.
And there's still that faction of the party that is trying to diversify, even though Nikki Haley and Ted Cruz aren't exactly the best hopes of doing that.
