When it’s an obvious lie that is easily refutable with known facts, a journalist who chooses not to fact check is lazy, a coward, really shitty at their job or more than one of those.
I know trump can’t pardon on non-federal crimes but can he offer a blanket pardon for any and all crimes? Or does it have to be for a specific crime? Can he pardon himself if it’s for something illegal outside of his duties as president?

actually it says on the justice department website that a president pardoning himself is “a question for the office of legal council” so basically bill barr can claim he has that power and he can pardon himself. That would likely get fought in courts. Nixon way of doing it is an option. I just read a few articles on it and it seems like he can pardon “for any and all federal crimes they may have committed” for people like family and friends and say “so corrupt joe doesn’t abuse his powers to get back at me” or some other lie so MAGA still thinks he’s the law and order guy. If he loses, only his reputation can be hurt by doing that and not with his MAGA fanboys. It could hurt his ability to maintain a grip on the party though and hurt his chance to run again in 2024.

The negative would be the media perception. If trump really wanted to run again in 2024, it would ruin that chance as his credibility would be shot. If he just wants to start trump tv and do rallys, I think he can legally do it.
