I’d take a president that doesn’t break the law and commit atrocities right now. It’s a very low bar to stumble over. I could not care less that Joe isn’t my ideal candidate right now. No one is. But he is a massive leap in the right direction. If he spent the next 4 years merely undoing as much of what Trump did while 4 more years of shitty old voters die off and aren’t replaced, it’d be a rousing success.

The death rate is going to start falling pretty substantially here. Citizen behavior. Cases falling in Arizona, Texas, and Florida isn't an accident. Their governors closed down places like gyms and bars and allowed cities to institute mask mandates. Cases are going down because of concrete steps, not because of the grace of God. Republicans have shown they are more than happy to give up their freedoms if it is a Republican telling them to do so.

This is different for a few reasons: First, my point is that his fiat has no actual basis in any legal authority. Trump has zero control or jurisdiction over local police forces. He can’t deploy cops to a given site because he has no authority to do so. The local police forces would have to do it on their own accord. Second, if the goal is to depress Democrat turnout in Democrat locations, those police forces aren’t going to comply. It’s one thing for Trump to send in federal troops into Portland and parts of DC, but they simply don’t have enough federal manpower to actually cover all of the polling locations. Finally, as for the private militias they would be committing federal crimes and federal prosecutors in certain areas at least have shown a willingness to prosecute.

Yeah Trump totally respects law, precedent, and local authorities. And thankfully local and regional police chiefs and sheriffs are primarily liberal or neutral non-partisans. And 3%ers and their kin are terrified of the DOJ right now.
Show me an example of a local police force responding to a scene specifically at the insistence of the White House in the last few years. It’s because they haven’t that been has specifically threatened to send in the national guard to certain cities. And to top it all off, local forces aren’t doing jack shit because he doesn’t pay his bills. No cops are showing up for jack shit without getting overtime pay and budgets everywhere are stretched too thin as is. He’s a fucking moron who just says shit.
He pulled his troops from Portland to prepare for this and to train new troops. It won’t be long before we start seeing progressively violent unrest in key areas of swing states. Also some Dem cities in non-swing states. His agents will actually be the ones who stoke the unrest. He will blame Antifa and BLM and use it as an excuse to do 2 things: 1) limit the number of polling places in those areas, 2) send in his troops to “protect” the voters at those places.
