This thread is spiking my blood pressure. Basically, I’ve come to the conclusion that whatever Illinihockey says, bet the opposite.
I am not sure why the cops were initially trying to arrest him but he clearly breaks away from them and goes into his car. Apparently they had already tried to taser him as well. All the details of what happened before the video starts are sketchy as hell. So far all I can find is: Officers were called to respond to a domestic disturbance, police said, but it's unclear who called 911 or what happened before the video recording begins. In a police call, a dispatcher says Blake "isn't supposed to be there" and that he took the complainant's keys and refused to leave. The dispatcher later explains she doesn't have more details because the caller was "uncooperative."
why don’t you just admit that you’re afraid of black people and will try to find any justification to police violence
That doesn’t look like an attempted arrest and it looks like the person that wasn’t supposed to be there was trying to leave. So where is the escalation point initially, since the situation appears to have been resolved, and at what point does a man getting into a car warrant 7 bullets in the back?
Getting some serious nerves today about Trump winning re-election. Too many stupid fucking racists full throating trump coupled with self loathing, purity test "progressives" not voting means at least 4 more years of this fascist authoritarian government. Fuck
you’d think after a year plus of borderline white nationalistic takes mister illinois hockey fan would take a hint but I guess he still wants to masquerade as a NIMBY liberal
I didn't say he deserved to get shot, of course he didn't deserve to get shot. I was talking about police liability. I don't know what the escalation point was since all we have is video that starts in the middle of whatever happened.
But he wasn’t under arrest. He wasn’t resisting arrest. Detaining him would have been unlawful anyway. Instead they shot him Edit: and the city is liable for not having cams on their cops as was instructed by city council.
WE also had another black American executed for no reason and once again NOTHING IS BEING FUCKING DONE ABOUT IT BECAUSE NO ONE CARES. This place fucking blows How many more have to die?
Maybe they should read the fucking room. We have White Nationalists killing people on the streets, a rampant and unchecked pandemic, a president who lies constantly is basically at war with 50% of the his own country and an administration who doesn't give a flying fuck about the rule of law.... but sure, Joe Biden doesn't have Bernie Sanders free college plan, better not vote for him.
Seriously are there no career professionals that can scream at the top of their lungs to the press what the fuck has happened to their agency?
The DNC has had countless opportunities to extend olive branches to the left wing of the party since Biden got the nom and they have consistently chosen not to. Why would you expect people to vote for a party that is not interested in what they have to say?
It would be easier for progressives to read the room if the DNC would acknowledge that progressives are in the room
The problem is it won’t make a difference, that’s who the “deep state” is to those who believe in it. To those people, Trump is draining the swamp. To everyone else he’s destroying both the credibility and ability of American institutions.
If we actually lived in a democracy he wouldn't have won the presidency in the first place. Neither would have Bush, and our country wouldn't be in THIS shape right now. I wanna know when white people are gonna corral their own and stop this shit, because they gotta live in this country too and eventually yes even you will be hurt by the collapse of everything.
Aren't people being asked to vote for Biden? Hasn't Biden created a joint platform with Bernie and had Liz working on policy? We'll see if anything comes of it, but aren't those olive branches? Or is this just about the center and center right dominated convention?
This is fair. They haven't done nothing. But the message sent by the convention regarding whose votes are valued was pretty clear. Maybe that's unfair
Imagine being so privileged that you feel you can sit out this election because you don’t have a candidate progressive enough for you when the other guy is literally going to destroy America.
You'll get no pushback from me regarding the convention. I barely watched any of it because it wasn't targeted at my interests. That being said, I'm not that bothered because that shit is typically all theater anyway with an emphasis on making the most people possible comfortable with voting for the candidate.
