No shit it didn't come from Pam in accounting?
I am sure I am on oversimplifying things but success in November hinges on the following things happening:
1) The Democrat/anti-Trump tent is sufficiently motivated and mobilized to vote. Do this on a large enough scale and frankly the other items won't matter. The numbers are there, they just need to actually vote.
2) The few sane individuals that voted for Trump in '16 (like her above and other 'moderate' Republicans now voicing opposition) come to their senses and vote against him. Due to the electoral college, margins matter and Trump still needs every vote in key areas to break his way again. Defections like these will hurt him. While there will be some going the other way as well, it's likely he's losing more than he's gaining at this point.
3) Trump's attempts to subvert or outright steal the election are thwarted enough to have their impact dampened. We all know this one is a big concern and rightfully so given how cavalier he is breaking the law.
I say nothing of Trump's base other than I assume it is motivated enough but also has a clear ceiling. They'll vote but that base alone won't be enough. He still needs help.
They get a dollar a day to do that dangerous ass job. It's disgraceful, it's literally slavery.
This election boils down to four options:
1) Vote for Trump by voting for Trump
2) Vote for Trump by voting for a third party
3) Vote for Trump by not voting
4) Vote for Biden
Only with option 4 does America get a second chance.
I'm as progressive as they come, but how many progressive polices do you think get passed under Trump? What about his third term?
This is the epitome of cutting off your nose to spite your face. I get people not wanting to turn out but when every right you covet is taken away I hope not voting because you don't get M4A was a great hill to die on.
get fucked with this bullshit. Dudes kids were in the car. His only crime was the hue of his skin. That’s it.
I should note too, thats 60K for 3-5 months worth of work. You know its a hard and dangerous job when it pays that well.
This is really poor phrasing considering there are people that need M4A to live
Show the receipts on this asshole. You know the people that vote for Trump, independent white voters. This is as bad as the cunts that blame black people for Hillary losing because only 88% of blacks voted for her while 92% voted for Obama. Fuck off
Get your own under control, the progressives aren't the reasons were here. So stfu with this shit.
there is nothing fucking clear about that fuzzy shaky ass video. It also doesn’t prove he didn’t originally attempt to break up the fight.
Not to mention the 20 million on ACA right now who will also lose coverage as well as the millions on other healthcare with pre-existing conditions.
Cool. Let's kill everyone because I don't get my way. That's some fucking privilege..
I think everyone itt is voting. It doesn’t make sense to keep belaboring the point that hardly anyone is particularly satisfied.
Honestly, I hope the progressives who feel most disenfranchised by the DNC spend time calling their reps offices each month, are volunteering for progressive campaigns, or are donating to said campaigns if possible.
he may have had a finger cramp or maybe has a nervous twitch
I could name a few but I won’t so we can move on.
This is a big reason why I hate that CIA bootlicker that everyone loves to quote here, Asha Rangappa. She completely defended Amy Chua throughout all that shit.
Who do you call if you don’t have a rep?
I'm also progressive and will vote straight D. I'm just saying if progressives don't turn out to vote, who is more to blame than the organization whose job it is to get progressives to vote?
99% of this thread is voting for Biden regardless of what happens between now and election day.
How about the fucking people voting for Donald trump. Your anger is going in the wrong direction asshole
That's a really compelling argument tbh.
I wish nothing but the worst for people who attended a SHS farewell party.
Not voting, that's quite regressive actually.
I feel like this decade will decide America’s future. This is the last chance for Republicans to secure power before their boomer voting block dies off and demographics shift even more so away to a white minority. They have proven they will do whatever is needed to keep power including lying, cheating and violence. It is up to everyone else to step up to the challenge and fight back in a way the Democratic leadership has already shown they are not capable of.
If Trump wins in November it’s my opinion that we are fucked and there is no coming back. More rules and laws will be broken and I’m afraid we will go too far down a dark path to recover. Biden has to win. I’m progressive as fuck and hate the man as a candidate but he has to win. If he wins we are by no way out of this mess either as they have to govern well and help people in meaningful ways ASAP to fight off what will probably be a more dangerous version of trump. We have to prove we are heading in the right direction as a country which to me is very much in line with the vision of democratic socialists.
We all need to do what we can. Donate, protest, volunteer, run for office and fight if necessary. I’ve done the first two and thinking of doing the third but some skeletons in my closet make me hesitant. I’m privileged and realize this and feel for people who deal with this in much more real ways on a daily basis but I’m terrified of raising my three year old twins in what this country could become. My wife and I have talked of relocating out of the US but we have to fight and stand for what we want this place to be one last time before we give up. I hope everyone else here does to even as hopeless as it rightfully feels for a lot of people to do so. If we can win these next couple of elections and let the new guard of elected officials we are seeing win across the country get into positions of power I think we have a shot.
Watching libs stupidly lash out at people who get zero representation in the government from either party is so disgusting. They treat progressives as if they're on par with the racists that they don't even try and deal with. Like fuckkkkkkkkkkkkk you, libs for for all this police shit too. If every black person refused to vote Biden until he agreed to defund cops on a national scale or put a cap in place of how much funding they can receive relative to other public services it would be well within their right to do so because he helped cause this shit.
Same goes for progressives refusing to vote unless they get M4A. Biden is why we're here, it's his fucking job to get people to the polls. No one owes him or any fucking lib shit. They do everything for you people and nothing for anyone else.
How about you get your bitch ass in the streets and get Trump voters not to vote for him AptosDuck
I've said before, your choices right now aren't m4a vs aca, or gnd vs a lesser climate idea. Its all the stuff we want vs nothing or things far worse. I want it now as much as the next person, but I am also fully aware that nothing happens without Biden and even if he isn't where you want, its better than the alternative
I'm also fully aware that Biden, why the fuck not is the best reason to vote, but Biden, otherwise this shit is over, is.
I agree with you. But we're talking macro, progressives as a voting bloc type shit. If they don't turn out to vote for the Democrats who is at fault for that if not the DNC?
Oh trust me, I legit hate those people. I would just hope that Progressives, of which I align with on like 80% of the issues, would realize it is not in their best interest to have the current Trump regime in charge of the country.
Bottomline, it's very selfish for any sane person who dislikes Trump to sit out this election.
With respect to "progressives" not voting for Biden because of purity tests, I'd probably call myself a leftist at this point that would love to see private property and capital widely redistributed. I just got a call from some volunteer from the Democratic nominee's campaign for our congressional district, one that almost came within flipping in 2018 by a couple hundred votes. The lady who won the nomination was not my favorite, I voted for the only Dem candidate that supported M4A, but she ran in 2018 and has lots of name recognition based on that so she cruised with over 50% of the vote.
Anyways I quickly told the person on the phone I did not like her, the candidate, at all because she is too much of a coward to support anything more than a spineless public option, doesn't support a GND, etc. but that I would reluctantly vote for her because the alternative is unfortunately worse, and to please not call back unless you want to hear me rant again. Could have been nicer, but I wanted this volunteer to make some kind of note of why I didn't like the candidate's platform.
So yeah, that's where most of us progressives are at so I don't want to fucking hear anymore about us having bullshit purity tests that are going to get Trump re-elected.
Especially since the insane people who like Trump won’t be sitting out.
Oh yes baseless accusations of selfishness
It is selfish to not vote because you want a more equitable society, apparently
It’s kind of absurd to continue to ask progressives to continue to be fodder for the mistakes that moderates make. When given the opportunity to listen the DNC turned to John Kasich to be the savior
Another thing.... People keep saying the time isn't now. How so? Isn't the best time in a negotiation when you have leverage? This is one of the few times the liberals see their asses are on the line too. So why wouldn't Progressives use this moment to be like "Looks like you cunts will actually have to do something for us"
That's literally how negotiations work. This is one of the few times they're actually scared the same way the people who are ALWAYS harmed by their shitty polices and shitty Republican policies live in fear. Y'all wanna be a big tent party, time to actually throw a bone to progressives.
The best time to make demands is when there's leverage. This might be the last time progressives have leverage ever. Because even if Biden wins.... Liberals will never actually feel threatened like this again. Hold their feet to the fucking fire.
I'm going to vote Biden, but I'm not calling anyone selfish when democrats refuse to do anything for 90% of the country.
Your local (i.e. county) Democratic party to get more involved and then it's on to regionals and from there the state, and finally, the national.
I don’t have the privilege of living in a recognized state
I see myself as a progressive so I’ll answer for myself. First and foremost anyone who votes for Trump is who I blame for Trump. Not individuals who vote third party or anyone who decides not to vote. Secondly it’s not just the DNC’s fault if someone decides not to turn out and vote. It is the individuals choice too. Everyone knows what is at stake. If a progressive voter knows that and chooses for what treason not to vote that is on that individual as well as on the DNC. Maybe not the same amount but they both play a part with that decision. It is disheartening and disappointing and I understand why some won’t vote but that’s their choice and they aren’t free from responsibility for that choice.
Imagine calling someone who still doesn't have health coverage privileged for not seeing point in voting. Imagine telling someone who's had a neighbor or family member killed by the police privileged for not seeing a point in voting. Imagine telling someone who lost everything in 2008 and the democrats did nothing for them or their family privileged for not voting.
No my friend you are the privileged one. Not those people.
FOH with that garbage AptosDuck
it’s not selfish but how does not voting get you that more “equitable society”? Not voting makes it easier for the fascist racist asshole to get re-elected, no?
Watch out for incoming conservatives into your news feeds who haven't watched basketball in likely decades and are now "DONE WITH THE NBA"
You could argue it's dumb or counter-productive. I just don't think it's selfish.
I don't disagree with anything in your other post either.
She has way more balls than Mattis, Tillerson, and Kelly.
For the 4th or 5th time
its a conservative staple...announce your boycott of the thing you didn't care about before and likely weren't really the audience for to begin with.
that’s fair. Like I said I am disheartened and disappointed so I understand CaneKnight ’s anger I understand why so feel it is pointless to vote. I feel that way but for my own mental health I have to participate in the charade that isAmerican democracy.
I mean, here is the 2020 DNC platform, I would venture to say that these topics do something for 90% of the country.
Workers rights, Union support, increased min wage, public option, student loan forgiveness, increased renewables, environmental protection, etc .
Biden has adopted the Green New Deal as his platform in everything but name and his healthcare plan would expand coverage to millions. If you actually give a shit about the environment or getting more people healthcare it's pretty straightforward. You can vote for material improvements in areas you claim to care about or you can sit on the sideline lecturing people about not having a seat at the table despite AOC and Bernie absolutely influencing the platform and moving Biden well left of where he started.
