It’s because “silent majority” rolls off the tongue so much easier than “white grievance-driven minority”
Need to get in on the grift and make some T-shirts à la “Catholics vs Convicts” and sell them for $20 a pop. Could make a killing.
Majority of the state is rednecks, thus bama fans. Auburn has provided the Secretary of Defense and is protecting the country from said bama fans.
showing up in another representative's district like this, halfway across the country 3 months after an election, seems like it would be frowned upon by the caucus
Had the Today show on this morning and they did a piece on the "controversy" for her. My initial thought was, "What controversy? Her party supports her." But I had to laugh when the responsive statement from Greene was something to the effect of, "These things I said about endorsing conspiracy theories were said BEFORE I ran for Congress!!!" as though that were some defense. First off, her comments and attacks on David Hogg were waaaayyyyyyy back in *checks notes* 2019? And second, who the fuck told her that formally filing paperwork to run for office magically wipes your slate clean? WTF?
They said the same shit about Trump. Also every racist says it when they get exposed. “It’s not who I am”.
Proud Cuck “Frankly, in all the years, which is now more than 30 that I’ve been doing this,” he said at the hearing, “I’ve never had a client as prolific in terms of cooperating in any respect.” https://www.nytimes.com/2021/01/27/nyregion/proud-boys-informant-enrique-tarrio.html
The Trump arm of the GOP is going to be stronger than ever in Congress and in the separate State houses. The Democrats had ONE chance to truly hurt the movement, and that chance was an immediate impeachment following the Capitol assault. Instead, as they so often are, they were asleep at the wheel. https://www.cnn.com/2021/01/28/politics/donald-trump-republican-party/index.html
Do you think they'd have gotten the necessary senate votes if they did it sooner? I don't see any path to that. You might have peeled off 1 or 2 more but not enough to convict
It couldn't go to the senate until the 19th anyway. There was no mechanism for an immediate impeachment trial in the senate.
The mood was so much different then compared to now. I think they would have been very close to conviction and that it was a true possibility. As it is, the GOP congresspeople are in full Kiss His Ass mode again out of fear of being primaried.
I believe that Schumer and McC could have mutually agreed to start a trial right then, but of course McC refused in order to run out the clock and let things cool down. https://thehill.com/homenews/senate...n-mcconnell-to-allow-trump--trial-immediately Spoiler: 1/12/21 Schumer argued that legislation passed in 2004 allows the leaders of both parties to reconvene the Senate at any time. “There was legislation passed in 2004 that allows the Senate minority and majority leader to jointly reconvene the Senate in times of emergency. This is a time of emergency,” Schumer said.
^ Yep. Per always, I think McC gave one of his history lessons as to why it would take 100 senators as opposed to Schumer's stance.
They were in recess. It would have required unanimous consent to get everyone back to DC to vote on a trial that at least 1/2 to 2/3 of the GOP Senate would rather ritually sudoku themselves than go on record one way or another to support or convict. They want to pretend to independents in 2/4/6 years that they were always against Trump and he was the sickness in the GOP and now he’s gone and we’re all better now. At the same time, from the other side of their mouth, they must say they were Trump’s staunchest supporter to the rabid base.
I disagree pushing the impeachment through faster would have guaranteed Trump’s removal. Remember, in the aftermath of the failed coup...the majority of the GOP still decided to put trump, self, party before country as they continued to push the election lie.
no just no. The republicans were never going to convict trump. I hate the democrats as much as the next guy but let’s not lie to ourselves.
Tommy Tubberville was the victim of three Ponzi schemes?!?!?! He really is the embodiment of the Maga movement. Bama must have been really upset that La’s John Kennedy was regarded as the dumbest member of the Senate. Roll tide.
MY STRENGTH IS MY COMMS TEAM! Well, at least we don’t have to worry he hired anyone clever. Lame ass fascist.
