I haven’t followed many of these hearings, but the TikTok hearing should be used as the standard for age limits. Nothing like a bunch of angry shitty old people (even by my standards) complaining about platforms they don’t remotely understand. Seems like more bad money spent by Meta.
Michelangelo's "David" is too much for Florida school. Forces Principal to resign or be fired https://www.wfla.com/news/florida/f...plain-about-pornographic-michelangelo-statue/
Parental rights in education is the same thing as the right to keep kids ignorant. If we insist on guaranteeing the former unconditionally, we will certainly guarantee the latter.
Worse than the gestapo when he hasn’t been charged for crimes of which there is mountains of evidence. I cannot believe anyone trusts this psycho to run our country.
I had great and supportive parents who encouraged me to read books and get good grades. I don’t recall them ever actively inquiring about what I was actually being taught in school.
Parents are so fucking soft. If you can't explain what a dick is to a 12 year old, you're a shitty parent.
The neighbors were super baptists and the daughter (the 4th of 5 kids) my sister’s age had to call to get permission to watch a movie when they were hanging out after she watched Pocahontas one time. Cause the talking tree was an evil spirit or some shit. You can’t give these type of whack jobs veto power over what other kids are exposed to.
I saw something earlier saying the Bible should be interpreted as Florida Man stories and I can’t stop thinking about it. You can’t talk to your kids about David, but let’s teach them stories of incest, rape and a king who thought the best way to settle a parental issue was to cut the baby in half?
Our (R) state rep and (R) state senator are hosting a local town hall at a bar in our neighborhood. IL House just passed a book ban. I want to ask some type of a “Are we going to finally ban fiction books with violence, adultery, etc?” and hope for an affirmative answer so I can say “Good - about time we banned the Bible” and walk out.
Yeah he fucking sucks and it's so maddening given recent senate elections. Just praying Georgia turns into a Michigan/Minnesota in the next decade but given gerrymandered state districts I doubt it'll happen that soon. We need Florida's political refugees to settle south Georgia.
"THE DEATH OF PETER THIEL’S “KEPT” ROMANTIC PARTNER IS BEING INVESTIGATED AS A SUICIDE" Is a headline we all should've seen coming
According to the Tallahassee Classical site, the school is affiliated with private Christian institution Hillsdale College, which as made news in recent months as a model Florida officials want to use to reformat Sarasota’s New College of Florida. Hillsdale has reportedly been advising the charter school since it opened in fall 2020.
There are so many interesting quotes by Thiel, but I find this one particularly illuminating, "Thiel’s account, meanwhile, told the UCLA student he had little regard for most swaths of America in a direct message: “Feel like the only places in US are LA and NYC and Miami … and maybe SD and DC and Chicago … but that’s really it.” The amount of hypocrisy and self loathing wrapped up in this guy is astounding. That he's such a force for evil despite clearly hating the very conservative movement he bankrolls is depressing.
Maybe handing the keys to America over to a rag-tag group of nihilistic billionaire misanthropes was a bad idea?
US Congressman “YOU KNOW HOW MANY KIDS DIE FROM USING TIKTOK” the CEO should have responded “You know how many kids die from going to school in America everyday?”
The composure of the CEO in the midst of boomers asking the dumbest questions I ever heard, like does tiktok connect to your home Wi-Fi and can it steal your homes data, we’re amazing. Such a bizarre shitshow.
It's legit still the name on some boxes. I have a box in my pantry now that says "Caramel Delights" and then another 3 boxes that say "Samoas". Pay no mind to me having 4 boxes of just that one set of Girl Scout cookies.
Yep, leaving this fucking state in June it looks like. Georgia is going to do 80-90% of all the same insane legislative crap Texas and Florida is currently doing but without much public fanfare.
Ohio introduced an education bill yesterday. Hopefully moderate republicans come to their senses, because the democrats here have zero power.
Buddy, I wouldn't count on it. Georgia is trending Purple and the GOP here does not give one fuck about catching backlash because of the gerrymander, just like your state.
There are two bakeries that make the cookies for the Girl Scouts. Due to licensing issues, the cookies from each sometimes have different names and slightly different recipes. One bakery made Caramel Delites while the other made Samoas. Caramel Delites had a slightly higher cookie to caramel ratio and uses more of a milk chocolate whereas the Samoas had slightly more coconut and uses more of a dark chocolate.
