Not that it matters in the case of Trump, but I believe the knowledge that an investigation is possible qualifies as nexus. For example, if Trump knows he committed a federal crime and then eliminates the FBI because they are the only investigatative body, it would count for all 3 items even if nobody knew Trump committed a crime.
