But we are totally moving to a system where extraneous verification identifications (e.g., ID cards and whatnot) become obsolete. Biometrics is the endgame. Our eyeballs, fingerprints, and "facemetrics" will become our driver's license. They didn’t take her picture before they gave her the opportunity to not have her picture taken. But I can see why JetBlue didn’t want to tell a customer that she didn’t listen or read.

JetBlue has been promoting this for over a year. It’s the first thing that pops up when I google CBP photograph airport. I have no idea what they announced at the airport, but isn’t some secret program that she couldn’t have informed herself about in the minute it took her to get from the back of the line to get on the plane to the camera or asked the gate agent a question about when she got to the camera if it bothered her.
