His base is still a large majority of the overall Republican base, which is primed for a "globalist takeover" since they've been told on TV and radio for yeeeaaars it's coming. I also think that Pence scares them, politicians like to use religion to rally the base but they’re not true believers, Pence is different then they are in that he’s willing to try to legislate morality. Plus they can distance themselves from Trump if the policies implemented to please donors Hurts voters, they cannot distance themselves from Pence.

Trump base is biggest part of the R base at this point since economically anxious and evangelicals make up like 65% of the party and cutting ties to him would split the party. They could have possible ditch Trump if Fox News didn't line up behind Him, but it is clear that the Trump fraction currently holds all the cards and the other portion of the R party, which represents the majority of legislators have to fall in line or risk having no chance in a primary.
