Cory Fucking Booker leading Trump by 5% in a nationwide poll, however early, certainly doesn't help Biden.
Biden's whole appeal this early is to wishy-washy democrats is that think at least he'll win.
Motivate people to vote for you and knock doors. I even can't imagine what a person motivated by Joe Biden to knock doors two states over would be like.
I'm cautiously optimistic that Biden will be nowhere near the nomination when the dust settles
Think that is between Buttigieg, Biden, and Bernie.
I'd vote for Warren, but she is a woman and think her lane is convincing Bernie supporters that she is Bernie with a plan.
It's fine to talk about obviously but X vs Trump polls seem pretty meaningless to me when the race has barely started
Look at someone like Buttigieg. If you dont follow politics closely your main exposure to him is probably a town hall on CNN whatever, if that
Bernie and his ego are too big for Warren to surmount and have a chance unfortunately.
what exactly has bernie done with his sizable head start? he hasn't stepped on his foot like biden but it seems like if he was running a competent campaign (or was a competent candidate...), he'd have taken advantage of his significant donor base and notoriety.
So you have to be someone who follows barstool on Twitter...
What's the rush? He has good traction in the early polls and the first primary is several months away.
Well if aggressive pointing of fingers at women is now a disqualifier this should clear the top of the current field.
I for one am mystified why an unlikeable elderly non-Democrat who gives the same shrill canned speech hasn’t expanded his base beyond the vapesters and e-scooter crowd.
Please god let it be Pete
But if all signs point to a Trump loss and, even better, D pickups in the Senate, it’s pretty easy to see some sort of “National Emergency” being declared to postpone the election. He’s not going to accept a loss as legit, and there will not be a normal transfer of power.
Guessing Gavin gets knocked out, because we already know he’s got a weak chin.
Nancy Pelosi has been spending the past week creating this as a diversion from impeachment
I keep seeing things like this and I'm wondering where it's coming from? Bernie really wanted Warren to run in 2016 but she didn't and ultimately, at least the story goes, that is why he decided to enter the race. He's by all accounts good friends with her because she's the only other senator that is as close to him on issues of attacking wealth inequality.
NANCY should RT this
But then he wouldn’t give her any money
I look forward to R hand wringing despite Dons rhetoric toward Hillary in 16
“It’s just different. We all know she’s a BITCH!”
I saw Jonathan Chait linked to this old piece in his NYMag article yesterday about the House Freedom Caucus, and it's making me relive past rage from the Obama years:
GOP running out of gas on Solyndra
By DARREN SAMUELSOHN 03/27/2012 11:39 PM EDT
Everything they do is about winning the next election, not oversight nor governing
I mean yeah but probably keep that quiet for now. Just going to invite dumbass Killary comparisons.
I didn't see much discussion about the contempt vote yesterday. I found this post on reddit last night fairly illuminating. Maybe one of the lawyers here can weigh in:
GOP choosing power over democracy part 2423410
as more states feel their grip on power slipping these actions will only get more brazen
people who dont like Bernie invent all kinds of things about him they don't like or pretend he does/will do
with zero evidence for support except some odd "bernie bros can be annoying on twitter" thing
If this is the case, it only solidifies my post. If he’s such great friends with her and they’re essentially in the same lane (they are), why is he not getting out of the way? E-G-O.
I mean, if you were him and saw the huge numbers of younger people that responded to your platform, why wouldn't you run again? Maybe if he's gets fewer delegates than Warren and refuses to team with her at the DNC then this criticism would be more justifiable imo.
Edit: And they aren't in the same lane, they're just closer together than either of them are to someone like Biden. He is absolutely hammering his message about M4A and eliminating private health insurers, Warren is not. This isn't a small point of disagreement.
Sure, that’s fair. I’m just frustrated that there’s two strong candidates running in essentially the same lane that runs the risk of Grandpa Joe capturing the plurality.
Warren is the better candidate, imo. That’s why I want Bernie to get behind her, not impede her/the progressive movement he worked so hard to build.
GOP figures out a while ago that state elections are paramount. Dems need to fight like hell to win the local and state races back.
Yes please continue to sit on your hands instead of launching that impeachment inquiry.
The court would still need someone to round him up and who is that going to be? What officer is going to actually arrest the attorney general for contempt?
the comments on this post are wonderful
But I was told by morons in the GOP thread that republicans believe in freedom. They wouldn’t lie would they?
Y’all are going to be disappointed if you think Trump is going to be prosecuted for obstruction after he’s out of office. “For the good of the country, we must move on and unite as a country.” That’s what you’ll hear.
That’s why anyone outside of Warren or sanders getting the nomination would be such a disappointment. It’s gonna be business as usual. Those crimes will just be forgotten
Likely—fuck I may make this a purity test for the candidate I vote for.
Sadly, this is my expectation.
I don't know, Harris really likes throwing people in jail. She could go after some of them.
If trump and his cronies were mothers of school kids or POC’s I’d agree with you.
She ain’t going after powerful people. She’s still a cop and she’ll protect them because that’s what she does.
Sergeant-at-Arms for the House
Ooo ... tough luck, Ben Carson
This is what I expect to happen but I’m still holding out hope that they get prosecuted for the shit at the border.
The attorney general has a 24 hour armed security detail. Also, while the house sergeant at arms would be empowered to arrest someone for a contempt of congress, that post seems to be talking about contempt of court. I don't know if that falls under the sergeant at arms area of authority.
So what can the Governer/AG do to combat this? Anything?
