Eh, AZ is a very different state, same goes for NC really. Growing rapidly, getting more diverse and more educated. A scenario in the next decade where NC and AZ are bluer than Wisconsin is not all that unlikely. The broad Hispanic hatred and bullshit border wall don’t play as well in actual border states as they do in the upper Midwest
Wisconsin is a pretty rural state. It only has three cities above 100,000 people and Green Bay barely makes the cut. Trump crushes all competition among white, rural voters. AZ and NC have much different demographics on Latino and African American voter numbers. Ohio has a lot more urban areas, six cities over 100,000 and a lot more in the 35,000-100,000 range. Trump won Ohio in 2016 because beat Clinton 1.6 million to 800 in Ohio’s rural counties despite losing the 9 urban counties 1.3 to 1.0.
Missouri Republicans mistakenly kick 60,000 kids off of Medicaid, resist reinstating them Missouri Republicans kicked thousands of children off of Medicaid by mistake in the past year, around 60,000 of them, through callous incompetence. Democrats in the General Assembly have been blowing the whistle on this for over a year, and Republicans have finally admitted what they have done. "In recent weeks, Republican leaders have finally admitted we have children without Medicaid who should have it," state Rep. Crystal Quade, the minority leader in the state House of Representatives, said Monday. "We appreciate the public acknowledgment of this crisis being real," Quade said. The children were dropped from the program when their parents, about 30,000 adults the state determined didn't qualify, were. The entire families should not have been axed from MO HealthNet, Missouri's Medicaid program, because the children still qualified. Republican state Rep. David Wood, vice chairman of the House Budget Committee, said, "We probably didn't do as good a job as we could have to notify them to reapply for their children. […] We should probably do a better job of that." You think? He also blamed the parents, though, saying that it is their responsibility to find coverage for their kids—even when the state failed to notify them that their kids could still be in the Medicaid program. Another problem is that parents have to re-enroll their children four times every single year. Enrollment only lasts three months. Democrats are trying to get that changed, as well as calling for every child who was incorrectly dropped to be re-enrolled. So far, Republican Gov. Mike Parson is refusing to put a halt to children being kicked off of coverage.
No one really trusts Texas to go blue. It’s been 25 years since any Democrat won a state wide office there.
California gave us Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon, and from 1983 to 1999 it had back-to-back R governors in Deukmejian and Wilson. It's Texas' turn to go through the same demographic and social transition that CA went through 25 years ago Texas is there for the taking Push it
Yeah, it’s the next sentence. But in chusing the President, the Votes shall be taken by States, the Representation from each State having one Vote; A quorum for this Purpose shall consist of a Member or Members from two thirds of the States, and a Majority of all the States shall be necessary to a Choice.
Right. I just find it weird that dems are projected to perform so much better against trump in TX than in WI. And with that in mind, it's hard for me to rationalize using WI as a surrogate indicator for states like NC, FL, AZ
Look on thw bright side, a number of people who voted for Trump in the last election won't be able to this time.
It’s getting better, but Texas 2020 and California 1970 or even 1990 are nothing alike politically. Both have sizeable Latino populations motivated to vote, California by Prop 187 and Texas by the Wall, but that’s about where the similarities end.
Not 1990. Later. Increasingly urban, educated, and diverse Some only see the tipping point after they're past it
I think we see Texas Republicans feel threatened by their first fight in a generation and turn out in huge numbers. I think Democrats turn out in huge numbers too, but Texas needs more of a statewide party before it swings.
Don't threaten my kids Bernie Bros but what's up with this our revolution group? Haven't seen it here. May be in other thread but I don't follow as closely. https://www.usatoday.com/story/opin...our-revolution-editorials-debates/4556051002/
It’s depressing, but I will vote against him and we must encourage our friends and our neighbors. This election is not about policy, it’s about holding a criminal and his co-conspirators accountable.
You have a criminal syndicate, aka the White House, that simply cannot lose this election. Is there anything they won't do?
Maybe if the House had like a head coach or something, they could tell everyone to up the tempo, maybe show a little urgency out there. Just a thought.
