Ryan's number one job as speaker is to protect his membership. Luckily, Paul "Policy Wonk" Ryan is a dibbling idiot.
I dont know what worse for Republicans this bill dying on the floor or them passing it when every Dem rep can run endless ads on what Republicans voted for
Passing it with the currently reported amendments. McConnell supposedly is on board with bringing it to a quick vote. He isn't as stupid as Ryan. But if they pass it, the Republicans can't move on from healthcare. It is a fucking quagmire then.
so McConnell basically saying you hand it to us we kill it with a quickness? because theres like 10-15 Rep senators who won't vote for it with the concessions potentially being made tonight
Jeremy W. PetersVerified account @jwpetersNYT News: Kochs pledge 7-figure fund to back anyone who votes against AHCA. A direct challenge to Trump threat that dissenters will lose seats.
Possibly, but never underestimate how dumb Republican congressmen actually are. They'd have to at least pretend they were working on something to Repeal and Replace. Also the damage is done. The CBO would still score whatever they do pass and the House saying it doesn't matter because we gave the Senate 85 billion in funding to fix it would demand a response. Then Trump would beat his chest about this legislative "victory" of putting 24 million plus off health insurance. While everyone else has worse insurance than they had before. They are alarmingly stupid.
I've said this before but the time I had a patient with health insurance that had a yearly max reimbursement of $1,000 and her premiums over the year cost $1,150 who signed with an X made me realize how important these regulations are
That's like, literally everything most people need What the fuck would health insurance cover? I mean Jesus
I guess my thought is, if they make EHB concessions tonight and it passes tm, then the Senate invalidates the EHB changes as not being allowed for Budget reconciliation does the Senate send it back to the House or can they actually pass it with budget reconciliation without the concessions made that allowed it to get through the House? this is super inside baseball talk
Also it's passing the house tomorrow. The details are already out there Trump will ~Make A Deal~ and be a hero
I imagine insurance companies would sell plans that cover some of those things instead of all of those things. It would be difficult to sell a plan that covers none of those things and still call it a health insurance plan
I have a new idea for like scamming in this thread. This was my dog Myla upon hearing that the LITERAL FUCKING President of the United States cooperated with our historic antagonist to become the LITERAL FUCKING PRESIDENT of the United States
it will not clear the senate with the hypothetical EHB concessions everyone assumes are getting ironed out right now, especially if Senate Dems can just filibuster and go on the news 24/7 that Trump is breaking promises he made to the American people *roll footage of Trump promising x,y,z regarding his repeal + replace* but it does allow Reps to dodge total responsibility for the failure
All Ryan cares about is getting it through the house so he can blame McConnell Also if they can't even get their stupid bill out of the house with a majority in both houses and the presidency voters will rape them next cycle
Just you guys wait! This is totally in line with republican ideology and philosophy - it simply cannot end poorly. You'll all see!
He's the dumbest person in this country. His beliefs are complete failures, and will cost him his job.
They wouldn't pass it anyway. But as long as the Democrats hold 40 seats in the senate, I don't see a way where the Republican Party can meaningful improve healthcare. The Freedom Caucus is too strong without a Democratic majority in the house. It is real dumb, because the cost of healthcare is going to have to be paid be someone. Democrats want the largest pool possible and stronger negotiating power *cough single-payer.* But the money is going to come from hospitals treating people without health insurance. Then rural voters don't have hospitals anymore.
I blame the press for passing off this scrub (who's favorite book, at age 47, is still Ayn Rand's Atlas Shrugged) as a serious person with serious ideas.
luckily I agree with them in this instance, but this is still so unsettling that you can literally just buy congress if you have enough money.
