I don't see how a hypothetical nudging of numbers like this is at all a useful thought experiment, let alone an article. Check this out, if I shift all of the votes here and here but not here, then the Dem nominee could have a 50 million vote margin but still lose by 1 vote in all of these same states so Trump is gonna win.
My feelings on this are less about hypothetical vote moving and more about corruption and election interference. We aren’t a democracy any longer and need assistance from the international community.
wE aReN't A dEmOcRaCy Fuck I hate that response. Can someone eli5 what is the worst case scenario of a pure democracy? I'm tired of being disproportionately represented, both via electoral college and congressional district apportioning fuckery.
From MSNBC: Together, these six states — Arizona, Florida, Michigan, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin — are best-positioned to decide which candidate reaches the magic 270 Electoral votes. That's not to say that other states won't be close: It's possible Trump could win Maine, Minnesota, Nevada or New Hampshire, and it's possible the Democratic nominee could win Georgia, Iowa, Ohio or Texas.
I just want to see the panic when Texas turns blue for the first time since 1976. What will happen to our electoral system when that occurs?
Push all of the boomers and shitty racists to FL and we can get a little bit of this goin: Admittedly, their electoral votes would jump up a solid amount, although not enough to overcome the rest of the country... but hey, we can't let the most populous state decide the rules for the rest of the country, right? Electoral college for life.
Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan are the only ones that really matter. Win those with no other monumental upsets, game over.
Georgia is like North Carolina a few years ago. You see republican lawmakers trying to rig the game as they lose their grip on the electorate.
Yea I anticipate it will almost be a carbon copy of NC. Given the redistricting powers they will wield in 2020, likely will keep a firm grip on their control for most of the next decade. But should be able to pull off a few statewide races. Then by 2028 the population growth will be the tipping point, followed by 2030 redistricting.
This is a good read so far, I'm not quite done but it's really stroking my optimist boner: http://cnu.edu/wasoncenter/2019/07/01-2020-election-forecast/
This. It essentially starts at how he could win it and works it’s way from there. There’s a couple of issues with it from the get go. 1) It points out that in the last 4 years of census data tons of people moved to two inconsequential states Texas and California but that data is from 2014-2018. So people who moved in 2014-2016 already voted in those states, not the state they left. 2) For the ones who moved since 2016, where did they moved from? Was there a mass exodus of Dem voters from Milwaukee, Pittsburgh and Madison to California? Did a bunch of conservatives in Florida, Arizona or Georgia move to Texas? Because those answers are more crucial to his point than sheer migration numbers. 3) It acknowledges PA, WI, and MI all had a blue waves in 2018 then says "but it was close!" As if that wasn't just the natural correction of three states that had gone Dem in the last 7 elections before Trump saying "this isn't what we signed up for." 4) It doesn't attempt to quantify how much the election tampering had to do with the election in states that were close. It honestly makes more of a case for a huge Dem victory than Trump pulling another one out of his ass
Generic.democrat doesn't carry whatever fake controversy the right will obsess over once that's a real name.
Sorry I’m still pissed they cast a Spanish lady to play Yen in The Witcher series. Can’t worry about the straws ruining my milkshakes rn
Even with someone like Warren as president, I have a hard time being optimistic about the future of our country. We are truly in a post-fact era and nutjobs are just going to get nuttier. I can't even begin to wrap my head around the conclusion that the MB is secretly in charge
My sources in the DNC told me that Democrats are planning on campaigning on pushing Israel into the sea, straws, and healthcare.
