The Bobcats went on the road on Halloween and held off lowly Ball State 20-17, but failed to cover as a 5½-point road favorite. Ohio is 4-1 SU since MAC play began, but after cashing in the first three, it has come up short against the number the last two weeks. The Bobcats, who trail Temple by a game in the East Division standings, have stepped up on defense the last four weeks, allowing just 12.75 ppg. The Bulls’ difficult season continued a week ago tonight when they blew a 29-16 fourth-quarter lead to Bowling Green, falling 30-29 as a three-point home favorite. Buffalo, which lost to Bowling Green despite a 411-361 edge in total offense (262-48 in rushing), has dropped six of its last eight games (3-5 ATS), with the last three decided by a total of eight points. Buffalo has posted double-digit upset wins over Ohio the last two years, winning 31-10 as a four-point home ‘dog in 2007 and 32-19 as a 1½-point road pup last season. The home team has won eight of the last 10 in this rivalry dating to 1999, going 7-3 ATS. The SU winner has covered in nine of the last 10 meetings. Ohio is on ATS runs of 5-2 overall, 5-2 in MAC action, 8-3-1 on the road, 6-1-1 as a road underdog, 5-1-1 after a SU victory and 7-3 after a non-cover. On the downside, the Bobcats are 4-12-1 ATS in their last 17 games when catching three points or less. The Bulls have covered in eight of their last 11 when coming off a non-cover, but otherwise are in pointspread slumps of 2-7 at home and 0-6 as a favorite (all at home). The Bobcats have stayed under the total in four straight games (all in conference), but the over is 4-1 in their last five November outings and 7-1 in their last eight as an underdog of three points or less. Meanwhile, Buffalo carries “over” trends of 8-3 in conference play, 5-2 as a favorite (all at home) and 5-1 against winning teams. Finally, three of the last four meetings in this rivalry have topped the posted total. ATS ADVANTAGE: OHIO and OVER That's all. If I see more posted later I'll add them.
Now that I've looked at it a little bit I think the under looks like a strong play. The trend seems to have lost its luster a little bit the last couple of weeks but Ohio has gone under 40 in their last 4 games. Buffalo has played high scoring games the last 2 weeks but that was against passing offenses that like to push the ball down the field. I think as long as Ohio plays ball control offense and keeps it on the ground Buffalo will be more than willing to do the same in a close game. I see a 20-17 type game.
If you look at the teams Ohio looks like they are by far the better team. They are 6-3 with 2 of those losses coming to BCS schools. I'm just a little nervous with Buffalo being a well coached team playing at home. I think I'll probably just stick with the under.
no. I mean it's not a 5 star game of the year bet your annual salary on it type pick....but Ohio is quite obviously the play tonight.
Mother Fucker I just got home from work and I thought the game was at 8:00 and I was going to take Ohio.
I am not a fan. Luckily I put in an Ohio bet as well so hopefully I'll still split if this under gets blown up.
Wow Ohio really fucked up that sequence. They should have been kicking that FG with no time left. They didn't even make Buffalo call a timeout. They are totally going to lose now.
Whew. Lucky win. Also as a footnote Turner Gill continues to be the worst coach I've ever seen managing the clock at the end of games and the half. He treats timeouts like they are worth points at the end of the game. Why are you wasting downs spiking the ball when downs are more important with over 1:00 left.
I knew that shit would rear its head......Ohio all day every day...the big time program that offers Gill is going to go in the tank..guy is about MAC level.
