Thought this was a great read http://m.hitfix.com/whats-alan-watching/hope-watching-vs-hate-watching-in-tvs-new-golden-age
i've definitely fallen into the camp that can't hope-watch from the beginning. if i don't like a couple episodes, it will quickly fall out of the rotation. then, if i hear something got good, i might go back and watch, but even still often don't actually make it back to give it a shot. i definitely have hope-watched during mid-series slumps. sometimes i was rewarded (justified i thought ended with a great season), sometimes hope-watching quickly turned to hate watching (dexter, homeland and house of cards). dexter i (inexcusably) stuck with it through the end (because it gave me some hope towards the end of the second-to-last season/beginning of the last season, and, probably more importantly, i knew i was so close to the end), but was fortunately able to drop homeland and cards.
What's the next big show getting hype out there? Seems like Netflix continues to have an interesting portfolio to keep an eye on along with the usual network/cable shows. But nothing has really caught my eye to get excited about later this year.
Just noticed this on NF. No clue when I'll be able to get to it (NHL & nba playoffs are putting me way behind on everything ), but looks really interesting http://www.showrunnersthemovie.com/
Was a decent watch. Didn't unearth anything that's not really known, mostly surface stuff. Like the ins and outs of the job, how they balance their work and the networks, etc.
If you really want to feel bad about yourself - DL the app TVShow Time You can track all the shows you watch currently. It creates a schedule and shows you what you have coming up, dates for premieres ect. You can also go back and catalog all the shows you have watched in the past. It gives you a total number of episodes/hours you've watched. I'm really bored so I'm going through all past series I've watched. If you're like me, your episode / time watched number is going to be pretty pathetic. It is a pretty cool tool to keep track of your current shows though
yeah, i think we did something similar to that last year. the # of hours was pathetic and didn't even include watching a series multiple times. edit: already up to 2 months, 4 hours on just 30 shows.
i use a widget on mac called tv forecast tells you the date/time of next new ep, but it doesn't tell me the days i've wasted
hulu will have exclusive streaming rights for all future(?) amc shows. fuck hulu* and amc (in 3 weeks) http://www.vulture.com/2015/04/hulu...mc-shows-exclusively.html?mid=twitter_vulture *although i really hope 11/22/63 is good. absolutely loved that book
was gonna post about Fincher's new show on HBO, but after reading about it it's a comedy so i'm not sure how that will go
It looks just like a tv version of his podcast. Which is just a lecture on whatever the intergalactic topic of the day is. Haven't seen it but will get to it eventually.
Good read on Amazon's way of doing things: http://www.vulture.com/2015/05/amazon-tv-moneyball-network.html
Look at NBC being risky and early adopters... http://www.comingsoon.net/tv/news/4...re-series-available-online-following-premiere
@HitFixDaniel: ICYMI, FOX orders Lucifer, Minority Report (http://www.hitfix.com/the-fien-print/minority-report-and-lucifer-land-fox-series-orders), NBC orders Wesley Snipes, David Lyons dramas (http://www.hitfix.com/the-fien-print/nbc-picks-up-game-of-silence-and-the-player-renews-night-shift)
Hasnt been announce but looks like your right. Also looks like CSI will get a send off short season or a 2 hour movie
It's pretty crazy how many shows got cancelled. I think is saw that over 90 got chopped or are just ending (Justified, Mad Men) Lots of new programming coming.
Not gonna lie, i'm a little upset Forever got cancelled It was just getting really good. I blame ABC for shitty marketing.
On the otherhand, I'm pleased Revenge is finally ending. Even though these past couple episodes have been good, it doesnt make up for the episodes before. Like Harvey Dent said, you die a hero or you live long enough to become a villian
At this point we're just waiting on schedules, right? Feel like most, if not all, of the pickups have been announced?
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-feed/tv-pilots-2015-complete-guide-764707 Just halfway through but Life in Pieces has a great cast and team. Man I miss Better off Ted.
Maybe it was me paying attention for the first time but seemed like there were an excessive amount cut this year compared to normal.
NBC will only have 1 hour of sitcoms in the fall. I'm sure that will be offset by 6 hours of The Voice.
As rumored, American Idol is finally ending. X-Files will air in January and minority report coming to fox on the fall @sepinwall: RT @HitFixDaniel FOX's 2015-16 Schedule: 'Minority Report' takes Monday, 'X-Files' returns in January http://www.hitfix.com/the-fien-prin...eport-takes-monday-x-files-returns-in-january
Wow, I know it's been a long time coming and I haven't watched in years, but I am still surprised Idol was cancelled.
